#Galilei ❤️
Because we're like family, I wanted to let you all know my father, Lt. Col. Flen Roy Wingard passed away unexpectedly July 13th, 2017 in Savannah, GA. He was 83 years old. He had played golf and been to the gym earlier in the week and died while taking a break from cutting the grass. As Mom points out, he lived his life to the fullest doing what he enjoyed, even to the last minute. Dad taught me everything I know about being a man, a father and a husband and I love him dearly for that. He showed me unlimited love and respect, and for that I will always be grateful. His obituary is below, as you can see, he was an extraordinary man:
Flen Roy Wingard (LTC U.S. Army retired), 83, husband of Connie J. Wingard, entered eternal rest on July 13, 2017. Born December 9, 1933 in West Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Bell Edwards Wingard Green and father, Luther Wingard.
Flen Roy graduated from Tim Tippett High School, West Monroe, LA and then Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA in 1955.
After graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served as a career officer until 1976 when he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He held various positions of command and management including in the Transportation Corp and as Director of the Fort Eustis Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Program. His military assignments took him to two tours of duty in Korea, one in Vietnam, Okinawa, Germany and various other assignments in the United States. During this time he was awarded 3 Meritorious Service Medals and a Bronze Star Medal for his heroic service. In 1972, while serving, he completed his Masters Degree in Educational Supervision and Administration from Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL.

This is Providence's Waterfire (which I kept mistakenly calling Firewater) viewed right outside the "Melted City 4: at RISD" opening reception. I had never seen it before and only caught a few minutes. I guess it's better than being home to "The World's Widest Bridge. ISB Galllery, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, July 22, 2017.
