Finally getting to sit and drink some coffee, ☕😰 seem to have had a nightmare morning this morning(their first day back at school). It decided to piss it down with rain and I had to walk with all of them to drop Daisy off for her first day of Secondary school and then walk all the way back to their primary to drop them off(with us all getting soaked),had to call back at ours on the way back too because Bryn had forgotten to put something in his school bag. 😕 Didn't get much sleep last night either so currently feeling wet, tired, worn out and shitty!!
A pic of the calm before the literal storm, cat 4 hurricane #irma
"Bonjour from Martinique! This week has been SO CRAZY and an amazing rollercoaster of feelings, countries & weather! In Sint Maarten we had so many new investigators and so many spiritual lessons with investigators. There was also a lot of hurricane prep because A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE IS COMING TO SXM!!! On Friday it was both my 6 MONTH MARK IN THE MISSION & we traveled to Guadeloupe for zone conference. Sis O & I made mission history as the first English side sisters to travel to a french island. At zone conference we had the amazing chance to have a General Authority present. Elder Alonzo, from the Caribbean Area Presidency, did a mission tour and the spirit was so strong. I was one of the few missionaries to be able to interview with him. It was a perfect way to spend my six month mark on the mission. I have learned so much in these SHORT few months. I have become more humble, patient, prayerful, charitable, and dependant on the Lord. I have grown to LOVE the scriptures & have been able to build eternal friendships with members, investigators, and companions. I am leaving a piece of my heart in Sint Maarten. A big piece, as next transfer I WILL BE GOING toooo... BARBADOS! I will be serving with the Sister Training Leader there & I am stoked. I will be leaving my baby, Sis Olsen, in the caring hands of my MTC comp, Sis Hansen. They are going to work miracles together in SXM, I am sure of it.
We got back from Guadeloupe on Saturday afternoon & at midnight that night I got a call from Sister Herrington & President telling us we would be "evacuating" the island & leaving the next day after sacrament meeting. My heart dropped!!!! First because I wouldn't be able to say goodbye to many of my peeps but I was also stressed about packing in 2 hours and getting all my crap off the island. Traveling with (1) 50 lb bag is SUCH a struggle. It happened though, seriously by the grace of God & the emotional support from Sis O. I am alive & safe from the hurricane but PLEASE keep Sint Maarten in your prayers." Update, they were moved to Barbados to keep them further away from the storm. Please pray for SXM! ❤️
