Just over 8 years ago, I went travelling alone for the first time. I chose Africa 🌍, or maybe Africa chose me. I'm not quite sure. Little did I know, that the decision I made then, would alter the course of my life forever.
Even when I left many months later, my heart remained and a lifelong love affair with the continent had begun.
I re-visited numerous times over the years, but with work and other commitments, my time was always limited and I dreamed of making it a bigger part of my life.
So I started a blog to document my travels in #Africa and help others do the same. I've watched Africa grow and change and become somewhere that people are travelling to more and more. And it's exciting to be a part of that.
Over the years, I've worked in various jobs, in experiential marketing, events, tourism, entrepreneurship, charity and youth work, but I never really connected the dots.
But as my blog grew, so did I, and it all began to make sense. All of those work and life experiences had taught me different things and led me to where I am today.
Last year I started my own tour company, 'Rock My Adventure' and ran my first tour in Kenya. This year I'm running 6 tours through 7 African countries (DRC, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia). And there will be even more in 2018 (to find out more, click the link in profile ⬆️).
I'm currently in Uganda leading a group of 6 awesome women on an epic adventure. We've climbed an active volcano, trekked to see wild gorillas, seen elephants and lions and shared so many wonderful experiences together. I'm finally doing what I was meant to do.
10 years ago, I had no direction. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. Had you told me that I would be running my own Africa tour company I would never have believed you. But here I am.
It's taken me a long time to reach this point and I could have easily given up, but I didn't and I'm here, doing what I ❤️ in the place I ❤️. Just shows you, that life is full of surprises and if you put your mind, body and soul into something, you can do it. Never give up on your dreams! #RockMyAdventure
