〰️ if I have one thought to share with you guys this Friday, it's to allow yourself to BE affected.
A common piece of advice people dole out when someone is going through a rough patch, an emotionally heightened situation, or seeing hardships around the world is "don't let yourself be affected by it."
And sure, there are times where you kind of need to keep your head down and focused to get a certain kind of objective done, but during other times we tend to overly numb our emotions to things:
✨The discomfort / sadness of seeing others struggle or in pain in varying conditions around the world.
✨A difficult conversation with a close friend or family.
✨Daily interactions with people we see daily like baristas, colleagues, cashier's at the grocery stores
✨Career lows or challenges
✨Rejection of all kinds
✨even something as little as watching a movie, listening to music, or reading a book and allowing yourself to be affected and swept up in another realm.
Feel the spectrum of emotions.
Because the only way you'll get to experience the highest of emotions is if you allow yourself to access the lowest and most uncomfortable of them too. 🔑Not only is letting yourself be affected by things a key to empathy, it's a key to human and spiritual connection in the world. it allows us to show up and see the real sensations of the world around us as well as be seen by it + the humans that inhabit it🌎
