✨ cliche af, ya? ya. but it’s SO true and that’s why i’m sharing this with y’all today. because i didn’t think fitness could actually be a ~lifestyle~
LEFT: february 2016; probably 4-6 wks our from another NPC show. although physically i felt fine, pretty great actually, my mentality took a beating.
the gym became a chore, something i “had” to do every day. which in prep, is the reality of it all. i didn’t feel so confident in my low body fat body. food was just... whatever. i ate mostly the same things every day and just dreamed of the day i could finally go out to dinner with my boyfriend (sam was the man back then 💕)
RIGHT: june 2018; i have no shows in mind.
today, im confident in my skin. i go to the gym because it’s what i LOVE to do. i’ll do different types of cardio because it’s FUN. i eat foods that fuel me and my body but also foods that fuel da soul, ya know what i mean? 🍦🍪
in NO way am i bashing competing / competitors. but i always i think to myself about all the confidence i have gained from just allowing myself to live life a little more care free.
✨i usually workout 5 days a week.
✨i do cardio when i want but i always (attempt) to get in 3 days. whether that’s the treadmill or stairs after a workout or going out and riding my bike.
✨i eat tons of veggies and fruits and protein and wholesome carbs.
✨i also eat pizza every friday with my family and if i’m out to eat with sam, you know we get dessert.
✨i drink plenty of water (finally made it a habit again) buttttttt i like to have my fair share of drinks too
i never thought i’d develop a healthier mindset around working out and eating right. i thought i always had to go into the gym and murder my body. i thought i had to only eat whole foods to reach my goals.
am i shredded? no. do i have 6 pack abs? no. but am i happy? YES. do i enjoy the gym and eating and life a little more? YES.
if competing is your thing — GO YOU! FOR REAL! but i think i like my butt, my curves, my freedom (& my tequila) over my shredded self 🤷🏼♀️🖤 #DoWhatMakesYOUHappy
