I love love. I am a really huge sucker for people who love each other (in case you couldn't tell, from the 50 gazillion times I talk about it...) The cornier, the mushier, the better!!!!! Tell me about all the ways your love has changed your life, about what they mean to you, I promise I'll never get bored, or roll my eyes - in fact, I'm going to ask you all about it during your session, any and every session, you ever book in with me
Because when I do? You get images like this to cherish, treasure and print and hang on your walls for the rest of your lives
Some of my faves from this maternity session are over on the blog tonight ♥ #lecindawardmaternity
A few weeks ago I shared a few (hundred) of my favourite images from 2017....but what was missing was my own recap of how the year went down for me.
I've pretty much unpacked all my baggage from 2017 now, and I'm sharing a little about what went right [and wrong] and what 2018 is going to look like for me, over on the blog tonight ♥
Moments like this are what I live for. The in-between ones, that honestly happen in the blink of an eye, and I'm not exaggerating that. This moment happened in the split second after they looked away from me, and before they were off again. Where the laughter has died down but they are both so relaxed and the smiles are still on their face .... #iliveforthisshit#professionalmomenthunter
Do you remember this family session from last year? The one where the hot air balloons literally landed right in front of us?! Well this one is up on the blog tonight for your viewing pleasure 🎈😀😍 #lecindawardfamilies
This is my favourite sunrise photo, that I've ever taken to date. One from my session with Kate, Gerry and their fam-bam ♥. I know that getting up early for these morning sessions can be soooo hard - but guys, it's SO worth it!!!! You just can't beat the light #lecindawardfamilies
REAL TALK - I am hearing a lot of my mama friends talk about how their kids are at each other's throats 24/7 at the moment with school holidays, and I want to know - at what age does it get better, and the fighting stop?? Let's give those mama's struggling these holidays some encouragement ♥ #lecindawardfamilies
A little sneak peek of Melinda, Dan and baby Tom [and Elsie, the four legged fur-baby] ♥ I'm really crushing hard on all the images from this in-home newborn lifestyle session 😍😍😍😍😍 #lecindawardnewborns
Long time followers (or anyone whose read my about page) will know that I used to work as a lawyer - but for those of you who are new here, it might surprise you to know that I previously worked as a family lawyer.
I was lucky enough to quit my job at the end of 2015 and leap into full time photography, something I'm really, really grateful for - and I thought it was about time that I shared my story over on the blog with you all!
You can find part 1 there now 😘
Do you remember that time I photographed a surprise proposal??? I got to hide behind a tree and everything!!!!! It's the things my dreams are made of 😀 ANYWAY - in case you don't (it was quite a while ago), I've kicked my lazy butt into gear and have published some of my favourite photos from the session over on the blog tonight 😍😘 #lecindawardlovers
Exploring new locations is going to be my jam this year (including a trip to Sydney - whose in?? Send me a message if you are keen)! So it only seems natural to share some of my favourite images from my session with Maddie + Josh down in Portsea are over on the blog tonight! #lecindawardlovers
This year has been....just, beyond amazing. You probably get so sick of me banging on about how bloody grateful I am to be doing this job; but strap yourselves in because here we go again!! A few of my favourite photos (all 400 of them - #sorrynotsorry - please scroll through as slow or as fast as you like) and some thoughts about 2017 are over on the blog tonight ♥
Back home to my beloved Melbourne today, but I’m equally sad to be leaving my beloved Sunshine Coast. It’s so funny how much more I appreciate the beach now that I live so far away, and I always try to make the most of it every time we come back. But right now I’m just way too excited to see my little Oscar-man (it’s been a little hard not having him with us this year)!! A big thanks to @kristyanddarcy taking such wonderful care of him and our kitty_cat! ❤
What are your Christmas Eve traditions? The older I get, the more I realise I grew up in a fairly tradition-less family, and creating memories for my (one day) kids is something I probably spend way too much time thinking about these days. I’d love to hear what you do! This christmas tree is also making me reeeeally want to up my decorating game (I don't have *any* meaningful decorations, I think I want some!)!! We might even try a real tree next year 🎄 // beautiful image via Pinterest from @amaraliving //
I know, I know, it’s four days before Christmas and you are probably all on holiday (if you are, get off Instagram and get back to holidaying!) but just in case you want to procrastinate online a little longer, I (apparently) decided to schedule a blog post for today – featuring my faves @thedigitalpicnic – not sure what I was thinking (is there a December work-overload equivalent of baby-brain?) but it’s there now for all to see! I’ve collected some of my favourite photos from our sessions over the years (if nothing else, it’s fun to look at the evolution of my photography), you can find it by hitting the linky-dinky in my profile ❤️😘
While I am *so* grateful to be back in Queensland (the beach is calling to me) - I'm also equally compelled to screech “I’m MELLLTING!” a la the Wicked Witch of the West, every time I walk outdoors at the moment 😂 This Queensland humidity KILLS me these days, I can’t deal!!!! What’s it like back in Melbourne town?
It's so hard to believe that we are celebrating ten years of adventures and love and fun, officially as of today! And while we might have officially celebrated back in October, I just wanted to take a few minutes to remember today too.
I have historically shied away from public declarations of love, because its a pretty vulnerable thing to share your deepest emotions with total strangers, but today I am saying stuff that!
I just really freaking love you, and I want the whole world to know about how wonderful you are ❤️ ... Continued over on the blog, with a few of my fave photos from the last ten years. Love your face @activedan88 ❤️😘
Sweet baby Charlie ♥ I've blitzed through my editing this week, so next week the only thing on my agenda is BLOGGGGGINNNG! Prepare to be spammed over the next few weeks with all the things I've been too busy to share with you over the last 6 months lol! #lecindawardnewborns
Soooo guess what?! I had my first ever official interview, with the beautiful Lucy from @the_graceful_collective . How bizarre is it to e interviewed by the way - I'm so long winded but somehow Lucy managed to turn my ramblings into something pretty darn tootin' cool - it's a little about me, my journey from law to photography and managing all the feels that came with that journey. You can read it over on @the_graceful_collective blog. Thank you for making my first (ever) interview so special Lucy ♥ xx
No matter how many times I go to Footscray Gardens, I still love it. I know it like the back of my own hand now, where the light sits, what the gardens look like in every season, and how to make it work no matter the weather; but this particular spot is one of my faves ♥ @thedigitalpicnic #lecindawardfamilies
Today is a pretty big day. It's the second anniversary of the day I formally let go of one life (being a lawyer) and chose another (this one). It's the day I stopped running away from fear, and embraced her instead. This day two years ago was so emotionally charged, quitting my job as a lawyer wasn't really a happy day. I was so stressed about being a disappointment to my colleagues and my family, losing my stable income, afraid about jumping into this and totally failing - the usual list of suspects. But it was the best decision I could have possibly made and I want to publicly shout out to my beautiful husband who has always been in my corner, who always encourages and me and gave me the final push I needed to quit my job. My life is ten million times more full of love and joy - and I have YOU to thank for it. None of my fears came true, the opposite actually!! Being able to do a job that allows me to capture and bottle your love, in photographs for you to keep for the rest of your life, is truly an honour and I'm so grateful to every client who trusts me with it ❤️ So to anyone reading this who might be thinking about taking a similar leap, I would encourage you to totally go for it. This is me, in your corner, telling you that you GOT THIS! It won't be easy, but it will be worth it #goforthandcatchyourdreams ❤️😘 / 📷 by my pal @chrisallsopphotography
The funniest thing happened to me during this session - it was a popular spot, and full of people. I'd just finished shooting my couple here, and as I turned around to leave a random lady hijacked my clients; demanding that they sit back down just so she could take a photo because the light was so pretty. Bemused, I watched on as she snapped a few photos of her own - I admired her audacity too haha! But she really made me laugh later on, when we walked past each other and she said 'Oh! I hope you didn't mind, I just *had* to take those photos - you wouldn't have seen it from where you were standing, but there were these beautiful rays of light coming around them!" .....no lady, I definitely didn't see it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 #lecindawardlovers
WE DID IT ❤️💛💚💙💜 there are no words left to express how bloody ecstatic I am. I have cried a million fat happy tears for all my LGBTIQ friends today. Here's to so many more celebrations of love next year; and to formally declaring to every Australian citizen who might be struggling with their sexuality that we love you; and that it doesn't matter who you love - because #loveislove 🌈🌈🌈🌈 - and I've also just realised that I will never have to hear another celebrant declare that "Marriage is between a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others.." ever, ever again - FUCK YES! // image from @gemma.dart
