Its full on mango season in Bali right now, and the number of new mango species and varieties we find here surprises us all the time even tho we’ve been in Bali so long. Do you know that some mangoes practically dont resemble the taste of the regular mango at all? Let me show you just three of my favorite rare mango species you can now taste in Bali. First picture - kuini mango (mangifera odorata). Its called odorata for a reason, its sharp smell will overpower the smell of all other mangoes around. The flesh almost fluorescent yellow, a great one can taste like a multivitamin or sweet like a cempedak with a heavy mix of citrus juice. Very fibrous with skin thick up to half a centimeter.
Pic number two - pakel mango (mangifera foetida). Ball shaped and harvested super hard off the tree, you may want to let it sit for a week before it softens up and gets aromatic. Also thick skinned and fibrous this mango tastes like italian cuisine - think a margharita pizza with a heavy thyme sprinkle or a very herbal marinara sauce. It is sweet too, but its aromas and compexity will have you floored. Last but not least, the mango Bali is famous for - wani white mango (mangifera caesia). As the name suggest its flesh is completely white, soft, creamy with thin fragile skin. The world is divided between ppl who love its unorthodox taste and those who wont eat it. When fresh, it tastes of tooth paste and has the herbal essence of jagermeister. When ripe, it tastes like the most mature italian cheeses or parma ham. Make sure its already soft when you buy it otherwise it has been harvested too early and it wont develop into the more exciting stuff. Let me know if you try these exciting mangoes! .
🤸🏼♀️PLAY IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER! 👉🏼 No matter how aligned/focused/happy you are, you will encounter emotions. Of stress, overwhelm, doubt, >>insert any “negative” emotion here<<...etc AT SOME POINT. It’s natural to have these feelings no matter how good or great you feel about anything that you are doing! No one is immune to these types of emotions. It’s how we REACT AND CHANGE this emotional state back to positive again, before heading down a negative downhill spiral... —
The best way to do that!? GO FRIGGEN PLAY!!! YEP. Like a kid! Go play! Get away from everything (especially whatever is making you feel that negative feeling) and go do what you love; things that make you happy, smile and laugh!
Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed, stressed, sad, >>insert any “negative” emotion here<< we feel the need to go into damage control to fix the situation instantly... but most times that causes more chaos... INSTEAD, remove yourself from the situation and go do something you love to do. Something that makes you smile and literally LOL! Don’t think about the situation and come back to it later with a clear head! Not only will you come back less reactive, but you’ll be clear headed to make better decisions from a good place rather than from a negative state.
For me it’s either going to the beach (a ritual I have every single Sunday regardless) or an outdoor workout! Currently my fav play activity is practicing headstands! It’s a recent goal of mine that I started a few months ago and now I’m practicing whenever I can weekly. As silk as it sounds, headstands are my play time. They make me happy - every time I fall on my back I laugh literally out loud and idk why?! 😂 But I do! Because I’m having fun! Probably because it takes me back to my fun childhood memories of practicing headstands and cartwheels with my sister and friends! 😂
No último domingo comecei mais uma Leitura Coletiva, dessa série que todos falam que é fantástica. Será uma leitura que tem que manter um ritmo forte e constante. O cronograma é:
- Corte de Espinhos e Rosas - 23 de setembro a 3 de novembro;
- Corte de Névoa e Fúria - 4 a 14 de novembro;
E o primeiro livro estou adorando...
Agradeço a Editora Bem-te-li pela iniciativa.
