It’s another #transformationtuesday - let’s talk rhinoplasty. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was the first procedure I had done, which maybe wasn’t the smartest idea, but it was something that I knew would relieve a lot of dysphoria and dysmorphia. It was done 4 months before I came out socially, and I worried that a 33 year old guy getting a nose job would make people question what was going on. Nope. In fact, most people didn’t even notice until I pointed it out. Our own perceptions of self are so much more exaggerated than what others see.
Something that isn’t often discussed in open company is the high revision rate. I ended up going back a year later to fix some issues that the original procedure didn’t catch. Double ouch. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Overall I’m pleased with the results. I think it’s a very natural look - it’s definitely not a super femme little button thing, but it’s just what I needed to relieve some pain. Surgery is a very personal thing and not all trans people will undergo the same or any other procedures that I’ve had - I offer this as only a glimpse of my path. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I always get asked if I eat sweets - and I totally do! Although when I want to have a cookie or something sweet, I either make it myself or buy it from somewhere that makes it fresh with quality ingredients (and I don't have any "food guilt" about it)
We know that our mood can affect the way we eat, but the way we eat can also affect our mood - due to serotonin (about 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut)
I think labelling foods "good foods" and "bad foods" can create a negative relationship with food - but it's also important to know that your body recognizes the nutrients you give it, which means it reacts to the "anti-nutrients" you feed it as well.
Basically, when you eat artificial foods - it can significantly alter your gut flora and destroy beneficial microbes that are needed for your mental health (hence why the emotions of guilt after binging on junk food is real). From avocado puddings, to black bean brownies, to flax/chia/almond butter cookies - there are so many ways you can upgrade the nutrition of your desserts by simply using whole nutrient dense ingredients.
Everyone is different, but I find this is the best way to still indulge in your "guilty pleasures" while minimizing "food guilt". Even if you go overboard, it is a lot harder to feel guilty when you know you are nourishing your body with stuff that is good for your whole body!
