Hey Everyone!! Its that time! The California Custom Knife Show is upon us! I was able to work on 3 really cool and special Customs for the show and I am SUPER excited to show them to you! The 3 knives that I will show you are a bit of a departure from the customs that I have made in the past year or so. This is the first one that I want to introduce! It came right out of the Argonne forest where it was used during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of the Great War. It is showing a bit of "battle wear" but I assure you that it is more than ready to continue its patriotic duty!
Building this knife was a dream! I had in mind to make a Battle Field Pickup in a Custom and then the ideas just started flowing...The patriotic "Star and Bar" really set off the lockside and then I carried it through to the full bronze backspacer. The "bullet holes" I carved into the g-10 to make it look like the knife actually took a burst from a Maxim M08.
The build of the knife is also very unique...The blade is full thickness of a regular XM18 but the lockside and handle is the thickness of the XM18 Skinny....so a real unique build! Also the grind is unique in the the Harpoon Spanto is hollow ground in both the belly of the blade as well as the tip...
Had a lot of fun creating this knife and honestly it is going to be hard to see it go! When you are holding this knife you can almost hear those shells coming through the trees...………….. This will be a auction piece at the show, the other two will be lottery knives via a beep beep style lottery..... Thanks so much everyone!! Rick Hinderer

Video by @iantmcallister + @pacificwild // Humpback whales feed on krill in the deep waters of Gitga’at territory in the #greatbearrainforest this week. These are the same waters that 1000-foot-long LNG tankers are proposed to travel through if the massive $30-billion LNG Canada project is built in the port town of Kitimat.
Imagine trying to steer a tanker that is nearly three football fields long through a channel full of whales like this. These tankers have to maintain a fast speed in order to have steerage. There is no slowing down or stopping. The environmental threats associated with this project are mind-bending—from hydraulic fracking in the interior, the main source of the natural gas, to the over-the-top GHG emissions and, finally, the threat that these ships bring to the quiet waters of our coast, are simply unthinkable. Future generations will pay for all the decisions that we are making but the taxpayers of BC will pay for it now.
The Site C dam that is being built to power the LNG facility will cost nearly $10-billion, and the other massive public subsidies that the NDP threw at this LNG project mean that we are all footing the bill for irreversible climate changing industries.
Jobs are important but these are not the kind of jobs that will reverse climate change and protect the planet’s biodiversity. 🎥: @pacificwild
