Although the kitchen has been redone, I wasn't invited to the private meeting where the decision makers of the house chose where our utensils would live, meaning I spend most of days opening every cupboard and cursing when I can't find things. So when I baked clemmie's birthday cake this weekend, i avoided the pointelss search for the electric whisk & resorted to a place where I know stuff is - The tool box. I was 'forced' to bake with power tools again. Some harvest time color palette for ya. Announcements below. But to start, I’m not feeling too hot. November hasn’t been as bad as the second half of October but I’m still in a weird period. It’s not SAD, though I do have that, but it’s just me trying to emotionally adjust to bullshit I don’t want to get into. I haven’t touched anything burlesque related in a month. Had to drop out of Burlycon for another engagement, but I was too overwhelmed to go anyway. I haven’t done much beyond go to work and come home and lie in bed, watching tv.
I look at this photo and think of how productive I was when I took it and just want to reflect on my productive season. I need a break but social media makes you feel guilty for taking one, with FOMO. Anyhow I’m really excited to announce that I will be in Virginia in January for Afrotease by @sashaychantea, and I was booked by @jeezysjukejoint for the March 2019 show, both milestones for me in burlesque. It was hard sitting on the news for either but if there’s one thing to get me back into, it’s booking shit— so I guess I’ll work on that.

"Clean eating" is a term used by many to describe a diet that consists of unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods.
It's characterized by the shunning of specific foods and food groups and an approved "good foods" list.
This approach has been purported by many to be optimal for peak health and body composition - and yet, this black-and-white mentality toward food could actually be doing you more harm than good by leading to:
💢Feelings of guilt and remorse with junk food. If there's a good list, there's necessarily a bad list. 🚫🍰🍫🍩And if and when you do indulge (intentionally or not), you're likely not going to fully enjoy it. In fact, you may be distressed over having ventured into forbidden territory. 😫😰
💢Increased incidences of binge eating and yo-yo dieting. You might think that the stricter you are with your diet, the better your results. Yet study after study shows that clean eating (known as rigid dieting in the literature) is associated with binge eating, higher BMI, and yo-yo dieting - in other words, it's really not great for lasting weight loss! •
💢Deficiency in some micronutrients. Eliminating food groups can lead to micronutrient deficiencies, such as calcium and vitamin D. 👎By the same token, a restrictive diet may lead to some micronutrients being consumed in significant excess. •
💢Inflexibility with lifestyle. Let's face it - you can't always control what food you have access to. Maybe you find yourself at a work party or you go on vacation to an exotic island. 🌴🌊
Chances are, sooner or later, you'll be faced with a choice of turning down the food that's available or packing your own meal - neither of which are always ideal or fun. Your social life may also take a hit as you try to avoid temptation. •
However you choose to eat, understand that placing certain foods strictly off limits will likely eventually backfire.
A more restrictive mindset is not always better! 🙅🏻Rather than thinking in extremes, adopt a more moderate approach where you allow for a judicious sprinkling of treats every now and then while maintaining a balanced, reasonable diet. 👌#eatliftthrive
