Emergerrrd.... we're practically halfway there , ya'll! 👶🏼🤰🏽 This has been a tricky journey so far, with regard to maintaining body confidence. I basically came out of competition prep and got pregnant not too long after ending prep. My pregnancy has forced me to take a step back in the gym and in total honesty, I'm missing working outs more often than I am getting them in. I still struggle with nausea and major fatigue, which sometimes makes it difficult to even want to get up and walk around my neighborhood.
But here's the thing. My body is doing something so much bigger and so much more important than lifting heavy weight or showing chiseled abs. I'm trusting my body when it tells me it's too tired or too sick to workout. I'm trusting my body when it tells me I feel good enough to go for a long walk. Im trusting my body when a certain part aches and requires a stretch or massage. I'm trusting it because I know it is doing what it needs to love, nourish, and protect this precious baby and I am so thankful to be carrying this gift 🎁
Mamas, try to be a little more gentle in your self-talk. Try to let go of how you perceive your body when it's in such a miraculous, vulnerable yet extremely powerful state.
Pregnancy isn't for the faint of heart - it'a a true gift from God and no matter how hard may feel somedays, there's a reason we (as women) were chosen to carry life inside of us. We are strong, we are capable, we are fierce...and our thoughts and actions toward ourselves should reflect that.
Got my booty (and my bump 🤰🏼) to the gym tonight! I was up at 5:30 am this morning for a dentist appt, worked until 7 pm, and after a 45 minute commute still made it for an hour of weighted arms + incline treadmill walk. See my workout below. ⬇️ P.S. so thankful for my @womensbest sets 💗 for being so comfortable and stretchy that they are still fitting me throughout my second trimester of pregnancy 🙌🏼 that says a lot considering most of my workout gear is not fitting me any longer!
5 minute incline treadmill warmup
3 sets of each superset
Bicep curls X 12 reps
Cable tricep pushdowns X 12 reps
Hammer curls X 12 reps each side
Overhead dumbbell extensions X 12 reps
Crossbody bicep curls X 12 reps each side
Medicine ball slams X 20 reps
Tricep kickbacks X 12 reps
Mountain climbers X 40 reps
Jumping jacks X 20 reps
Jump squats X 15 reps
20 minute treadmill incline walk at 10% incline at 4.0 speed
10 minute cool down/foam roll/stretch.
