And so after a meandering two days of driving my family reached our final destination: Lubec, Maine.
Sitting all the way up in a corner of the United States, Lubec is the easternmost town on the US mainland. You need a passport to drive beyond Lubec—it's right on the Canadian border!
Less than 2,000 people live in the small town on the water, and many people in the area rely on fishing for income. As a result, the day begins early and the town is silent by 9 in the evening.
Though quiet places aren't everyone's cup of tea, I loved it. Maine is an immensely popular summer destination for vacationing Americans, and famous sights like Acadia National Park were overflowing with people when we visited.
Not so in Lubec where there were hardly any tourists at all.
We spent our days aimlessly wandering through empty forests and reserves surrounding the town. Evenings were for working our way through fresh local seafood and Maine's craft beer selection.
No grand plans, just simple pleasures and peaceful places. What more could you ask for?I
PSA this is a massive dog appreciation post. Not fitness related whatsoever! I had the absolute pleasure of dog sitting @xodashachu baby @ajinthe6ix this week and it was the best experience ever!! I am definitely not a big dog person/animal person in general but I really really love bullies and other big dogs and Jagr was by far the best one I’ve ever met. He might look big and scary but he is the gentlest, sweetest, cuddliest puppy! In 5 days he didn’t bark even once, didn’t jump on strangers, didn’t growl, stayed right by my side during walks, waited for permission for everything and is an all around angel. There is a massive stigma around bullies, mastiffs, and all the big dogs in between because of their appearance and jaw anatomy. Any dog can be aggressive if it’s trained to be and these dogs from @mvp_bullies are the most well behaved, well bred, best tempered dogs I can imagine. People assume that if they have a small dog they don’t need to really train it because it can’t do that much damage etc but I have been bitten by a Pomeranian and it hurt let me tell you. This is all to say that you shouldn’t discriminate against big scary looking dog breeds and assume they’re aggressive and it is really the owners duty to responsibly train and look after their dogs. After watching @ajinthe6ix this week I have decided to get my own pup from @mvp_bullies and I can’t imagine a better breeder, can’t wait!! #dontbullymybreed#americanbully#mvpbullies#girlswithbullies#pitbulllove#pitbullban#mastiff#doglove#dogsofinstagram
