Saturday night I put it all on the line at @kasaigrappling Pro 4. My opponent Jeferson Guaresi is a purple belt @IBJJF world champion and is regarded by many to be the best purple belt on earth. I did my best to make an entertaining fight for the fans. I had the lead for the majority of the match before my opponent established an efficient triangle choke on me thus submitting me and winning the contest with a minute thirty left. Congrats to Jefferson on the win, he showed the marks of a true champion. He showed he’s a composed individual. He repeatedly adapted his game-plan during the fight and didn’t get rattled. That is the true mark of a champion. I may have lost the match but I either win or I learn. I won by being able to come back in exactly 4 months post ACL reconstruction (patellar) which I’m pretty sure is the world record. I want to thank all of my friends, teammates and family who supported me. This is all practice for when I eventually fight MMA. I’ll be back.
I’ve been 185lbs and I’ve been 135lbs. I’ve been every weight in-between. I’ve been depressed at times, over stimulated and happy at others. I’ve been content with my weight, other times I’ve hated every ounce of it. I was confident and happy at 185 just as I was at 135. Why? Because I’ve discovered that you have to love yourself through every pound of your journey.
When you embark on a journey to change your physical stature, you change a piece of who you are along with it. You start believing in the person that you want to become rather than hating the person that you are. You’ve always been beautiful, now you’re just deciding to be healthier, fitter, faster and stronger.
Keeping a maintainable weight isn’t just some easy thing to do, either. It takes conscious work and decisions. It’s choosing to be healthy and to not depend on food to make you happy.
What’s my goal weight? I don’t have one. Right now I’m about 144 🤷🏼♀️ I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I refuse to define myself by a number. My journey is defined by my interior transformation, the one that decides my attitude and my direction in life. It’s the one that makes me feel strong, confident, and healthy.
Just because you don’t have that body of the people you follow doesn’t mean you don’t have a beautiful, able, powerful and capable body right in front of you, waiting for your love and your dedication and your acceptance.
This post is for all the people who are busting their ass in the shadows, who’s bodies and who’s health is a work in progress, the ones that are more committed to their dreams than their comfort zone. Your progress doesn’t go unnoticed. Your effort isn’t wasted, and it DOES matter. Even if you lost 1/2 a pound a week, you still lose 26 pounds by this time next year. Choose you. Choose health. Choose to make yourself and your body a priority
My journey is ongoing - it started in May of 2016. That was more than two years ago. Because health is a lifestyle, it’s a conscious decision, and it’s a journey that lasts for a lifetime.
Embrace the slow change. Enjoy the journey. Find your will and there you will find your way.
Raise your hand if you like cookies 🙋♀️
@foodstirs has been my go to for all things treats. Their mixes are organic, and GMO-free. Today was the first time I've baked in our new kitchen and I was reminded of how much I love it! As soon as Ephraim got home he ate 4 cookies lol! Do you guys like to bake? #Foodstirs#MoreFlourToYa
Some pretty geode nails for my hair girl!! These can be classified as Winter Nails, right? 💁🏼♀️💙 PRO TIP: Put a matte topcoat over any glitter to ‘tone it down’ before your shiny topcoat. All colors are from @lightelegancehq except the gold leaf is from @vetro_usa. Set was inspired by @nailsbycally
