Whenever we take in a baby calf, we keep them in our upper pasture with our little guys (sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, mini donkeys) for the first year, rather than putting them out in the cow field. This is done mainly for 4 reasons: ⠀
1) we can keep a close eye on them and make sure they are thriving (especially since they are all bottle babies in the beginning)⠀
2) they become acclimated to being around all different types of animals⠀
3) visitors can pet a baby calf⠀
4) it keeps them from being hurt by the much bigger cows, donkeys and mules until they ae large enough to fend for themselves⠀
After they are a year old, they start being too big to 'play' well with the little guys and we turn them loose with the cow herd. In this video, taken 2 years ago, our 2 babies, Will and Elliott, have decided to chase baby calf, Lily, who is out of sight in the video. This is what happens when boys chase girls, hahahaha.⠀

📷 Submitted by @katyathesiberiancat - "Our kitten truly is a dog in a cute little kitten's body, her hobbies include: playing catch, following her family wherever they go, snuggling up on our laps (her favorite place to sleep), giving us our daily kisses and waiting at the door asleep until we come home-giving us the best greeting to come home to! Our kitty is a little purr machine, you can always hear her (even from far away). Our little kitty has a real fear of missing out, she will never let you walk ANYWHERE without her-closing yourself in a room without her is never an option! Katya got her nickname of Tubby after becoming mesmerized by the show "The Teletubbies." She responded to the name of the show as if it were her own, so she really did choose her own name. We shortened it to Tubby to make it easier and it now is the only name she responds to! Katya/Tubby gives us more joy than we could ever imagine and her daily antics and love are the reason we decided to finally open her own account. We opened her account with the goal to give joy to others the way she has for us." 🐈

♥️ Deaf Dogs Hear The World Not With Their Ears, But With Their HEARTS ♥️ .
Introducing this dude, Freddie Mercury everyone!
Freddy is a deaf, 2 year old, tiny Boston Terrier. Our rescue believes Deaf dogs are extra special dogs that create deep & unique bonds with their owners. Although he can’t hear with his ears, Freddy Mercury is learning how to listen through hand commands like a fist for sit, & a flat hand for lie down. •
Freddy Mercury has tons of puppy energy and absolutely loves attention. He loves to play with his toys & his favorite game of fetch with a bouncy ball, or tug of war with a bone. •
Freddy Mercury loves a daily routine & because he is deaf he must always be on a leash in public. He loves naps & is an expert level cuddler . •
Freddy Mercury’s ideal home has another small dog that has a lot of energy too so he can have a playmate - this other dog should be well trained & well adjusted to help Freddy learn the household routine & provide him with good behavior to mimic. Freddy also loves children.
Freddy Mercury is a barker so he needs someone willing to work with that & have patience to train him. Having a sibling who wants to give him attention will help with Freddy’s barking. •
If you would like to know the joy of living with a deaf dog & your lifestyle & home fits the criteria of Freddy Mercury’s needs, you can read more about him & apply for him via the link in our bio. An in person home check by one of our volunteers is a necessary part of our screening process. ♥️ #deafdogsrock#deafdogsofinstagram#freddymercury
