Squats are a building block to leg strength and function. A variation of this motion is performed throughout the day such as walking up stairs, sitting down, or picking something or a little someone off the ground. The correct form allows your squat to be effective in strengthening your body rather than harming it. To maintain a solid base, your feet should be planted such that three points on your foot are engaged simultaneously near your heel, your big toe, and your little toe. Once planted, your hips should hinge back with a slight bend in the knee while making sure your knees do not shift forward. If you start squatting with your knees shifting forward instead of your hips shifting back, you are more suspectable to causing harm to your knees.
