Begonias are a tough annual that will bloom wonderfully in shady areas. They are extremely tolerant of dry spells and will continue to bloom despite harsh conditions.
They are a wonderful addition to container gardens, borders, or any area that needs a durable plant that provides consistent blooms. Begonias come in many shades of pinks, reds and also pure white.
Begonia tip: Wax begonias with bronze/reddish colored foliage will tolerate more sun than other varieties. Begonias with green foliage will need more shade. They do not mind direct morning light, but need a break from the hot afternoon sun.
Can begonias be tricky? Oh heck yes. But some are in the easy category, we swear! Christine at @workhardplanthard waters this beautiful #begonialistada about once a month, otherwise it sits quietly in this bright little corner. Thanks Christine for giving us all a begonia to rest our hopes and dreams on.
