This is the first time I've been able to check ketones while diet phasing, so I'm testing the upper limits of what I can tolerate and still remain in ketosis. This is all strictly in the name of science, since ketosis is a bonus but not the necessarily the goal of my current dietary phase (although I do tend to naturally OMAD or shorten my IF window on this phase).
Yesterday was 40 total carbs (25 net -- most of total carbs were due to fiber) and though fasting ketones are lower than normal, still definitely in ketosis. (I typically average 2.4-2.5 when doing 20 total.) This is cool.
One thing I've observed since I started testing ketones is that flipping myself from days to nights (or vice versa) doesn't kick me out of ketosis. My blood sugar, however, is another story.
I'm not a diabetic at baseline, and I've never had my insulin levels tested, so I can't say for certain if I was insulin-resistant in any way. But I can say what happens to my blood sugars when I flip my schedule is striking -- and ironically it seems to be more exaggerated when I go from nights back to days (which was not my original theory). Now I have all kinds of questions and additional testing I want to do!

In the land of orange cheese, this is my favourite low carb breakfast lately. There’s something about avocado and cheese cooked together that just makes me drool. 🤤 this is 2 eggs, parsley, half an avocado 🥑 and a few slices of cheese cooked in butter. Took about 7 minutes. How’s that for fast food!
