June has been my own personal redemption triathlon tour, and man do I feel REDEEMED! Quassy and Tremblant ... two races in years past that really challenged me physically and mentally. I was nervous as this month approached. I wasn't super excited about either one of these races given my not so awesome prevoius experiences, but did my best to approach them with an open and clear mind. I can honestly say that I went into both races totally expectation free - I just wanted to race *my* best race. And man ... do I have fun when I allow myself to race that way!
Just a few highlights of my day yesterday... 1 - Lining up with @therealjefflarimer at the swim start. This guy has worked SO hard these past few years, and had a tremendous day yesterday and a big PR. I'm so proud! I think the last thing I said to him before we got into the water was "let's put these carbs to good use!!" ha!! And we sure did #powercouple
2 - Seeing so many friends crushing the course, and cheering - MASSIVE thanks to @jgallinagh @soobrex1 @petfxr @mjconley314 for the incredible support! We have a huge crew here, and it makes such a big difference. @tsnow15151 - you completely made my day on the run course. I was feeling a little sad, thinking that I wasn't going to see anyone I knew for a long time. And there you were, screaming LARIMER. Thank you for the boost!
3 - Getting off the bike and seeing a SEA of empty racks. I don't think I saw one bike where I was racked...and it was a fricking great feeling.
4 - R U N N I N G. I've historically really struggled running off the bike, and I felt like I owned it yesterday - and I was less than 2 minutes off of my open half PR. The run was very much like my typical long run route at home - some hills at the beginning and end, and a long stroll on a path in the middle. I kept telling myself ... you've done this run a million times (because I have!), and it helped. It was particularly fun to run with the guys and not be passed incessantly by other ladies as I have in the past! (Continued in comments...)
