From last winter .
While I have been told I can be too soft hearted or wear my heart on my sleeve as though it is a bad thing ,I sometimes think some that say that say it out of jealousy . While I have been hurt by being the way I am and always have been, I bounce back, sometimes slowly but I do bounce back.
In regards to homeless people ,I have heard so many derogatory terms directed at them without even knowing them . Of late it seems anyone seen as homeless is looked at as a drug user and of unstable mental health.
So not only can they be looked down on for being homeless, they can be perceived as an addict and unstable, not safe to be around them .
This morning on a walk I saw "I wanna home for Christmas " stomped into the snow . I also saw who was just finishing writing it . He had saw me approaching from the north and stopped . I asked him to continue if he felt like it .
He did . He stepped away ,then stepped back ,writing PLS at the end of it .
He walked alongside me and we chatted . The following is some of what he said ,that I wrote as a poem . "I wanna home for Christmas
A bed to call my own
To reconnect with family
If even by telephone
I don't need anything fancy
Just a place to rest my head
A meal a day is fine by me
Just to keep me fed
I won't bore you with the details
But there are more just like me
Yet in daily lives ,many choose not to see.
I wanna home for Christmas
And a bed to call my own
In hopes that one day soon
My family calls by phone." We cannot read people without hearing their stories .
