This weekend was my first time chasing mule deer with a weapon in my hand. I did it solo. The terrain was steep and coated with slick snow, plus it was cold and windy. Coyotes sang me through the night and I woke in the morning to boots so stiff I could barely shove my feet into them. The mental challenge of being in the wilderness on your own is hard, and it's scary, but it is something I am pushing myself to overcome. All the challenges I faced sharpened my appreciation for the beauty around me. The blaze red sunrise, watching as two bucks locked antlers and fought for supremacy, the hills and valleys soaked in golden evening light, these are the things that keep me coming back for more.
LA Day 1: A trip out to Joshua Tree National Park. Some walking amongst massive boulders, trippy looking trees and huge desert vistas. We found a great campsite just outside the park (very busy inside!) which had an open air kitchen for us to cook steak sandwiches and settle down by the fire... #joshuatree#california#desert#campfire#camping
