A close-up of my laundry basket is everything except interesting. But it goes well with the subject of the post: how many wears before you need to wash?
I found a board from Popsugar @Pinterest a few months ago and I thought it was really obvious that I needed to change my habits for the laundry. I used to wash my clothes way much than what's advised and I immediately suspected that was one of the causes of premature deterioration.. In the "make it last process", laundry is the base so.. here is my reminder:
-Bras: after 3 to 4 wears
-Underwear: after every wear
-Socks & stockings: 1 to 2 wears
-Sportswear & swimwear: after every wear
-Jeans: 5 to 6 wears
-Tops: 1 to 2 wears
-Dresses: 1 to 2 wears
-Leggings: 1 to 2 wears
-Pants, skirts & shorts: 3 to 4 wears
-Jackets & blazers: 5 to 6 wears
-Coats: once every 2 months of wear (once every season if, like me, you switch between several)
-PJS: 3 to 4 wears.
And no, my clothes don't smell bad or be dirtier...but obviously, you can adapt to situations and personal preference. Anyway, rethink this part is a good thing for doing more "on purpose" rather than "on habits".. and it's obviously more eco & wallet friendly 😉

What does your wardrobe say about you? ⠀⠀
I recently did something life changing: I got rid of 90% of my wardrobe (read full article @telegraph link in bio) and I feel more myself than ever before. Plus I’ve got a lot more cash to spend on things for that really matter, like experiences. Here’s how I live a more minimally stylish life. Something I call empower dressing:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Stop buying s**t you don’t need. It’s that simple. Style stalwart Olivia Palermo told me once she only buys things that compliment what she’s already got. If it doesn’t fill a gap, have a purpose - say, an evening blazer to dress down all your dresses - or genuinely makes your heart flutter, then don’t buy it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2: One in, one out. This helps me think twice. If I know I have to forsake something I already own, for the new thing I ‘really really’ want, then it has to be worth the fashion calories, so to speak - an easy quality control hack.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3: Throw out everything that isn’t YOU. Kate Nightingale @stylepsychology says when you wear things that don’t reflect who you are - or what you want to represent - then you don’t feel authentic. I know this. I used to hunt endlessly for the ‘perfect blazer’ and accrued so many that a dear colleague held a blazer intervention to save my bank balance. Truth is, I’m not a blazer kind of girl. Once I got rid of them, I felt free.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4: Invest in accessories. A FEW investment pieces are where you get most bang for your buck. Why? Here’s where you can be bold, step outside the rules; texture, print and colour are your way to add your own flourish, put your stamp on a t-shirt and jeans ensemble. When I wear a beautifully crafted bag or a bright heel, I feel empowered, less conformist...more fun.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Nail your basics. Spend a bit of time finding a denim style you feel amazing in. Life is too short to walk around not feeling body confident. I own two pairs of designer denim, in black and dark blue (Frame skinny is my favourite) then 2 or 3 high street jeans. I like Topshop Jamie as they’re high waisted and show a little ankle which works with heels and trainers. #capsulewardrobe

The snow has been falling all morning so I'm using it as an excuse to snuggle up in cosy loungewear and work from home.
I'm currently working on my closet mission for 2018. Which has me wondering what are your wardrobe plans this year. Are you wanting to create a capsule wardrobe, give up fast fashion for good or maybe you just want to shop less? Let me know in the comments
Welcome to our #sharedwardrobe project, exploring how we can create connection through sharing garments, and imagining what a non-gendered wardrobe could look like. We will be wearing and sharing a capsule collection of garments and documenting them via this account- so welcome!
We have thus far sourced pieces from the existing wardrobes of @kettlegun
and @bykateelizabeth that both parties were excited to wear, but we are open to adding in other items if they find their way to us...! Let us introduce you to two of the pieces that have made the edit:
Firstly, congratulations to @kettlegun for making their insta-modelling debut! 😍 They are doing so, notably, in this floral print sweatshirt, that they acquired via eBay. They have chosen to wear it over a polka-dot denim shirt, from Tk Maxx.
The second item to feature is this denim jacket, which was a #charityshop find by @bykateelizabeth from @barnardosretail 😊
More to come soon, folks!
We hope you like the idea of the project and we're sure it will continue to evolve and grow over time. 👕👚🎽👖🎩👘👟
