A lot of smart people have told me to create a separate business page ASAP. Thus allowing me to drill down on my audience, creating a more focused marketing plan. (Yawn).
Yes, I understand—but it’s still a no. Think outside of the articles and memes you’ve read online to answer one question for me.
What is the point of abusiness?
Many consider starting businesses as self-empowerment; as a way to create the life that they’ve pictured for themselves. They organize, structure it to grow sooo fast—(money in the bank!!) so much so that they forget the bigger picture. Admirable efforts! and a business is definitely about profit. But big picture: business is not about YOU; it’s about solving problems that push society forward. The problems I want to solve, the girls I think can solve them—they’re here on IG in mass. They demand transparency. They want to know who I am before they buy.
I want to help certain types of women express their voice through clothes—through the armor they wear everyday. Their voices are loud, rebellious, free-spirited. For those, I see hope. They’ve been through enough bullshit to build up resistance—enough to not care (as much) what other people think. Her mouth, it gets her into trouble when she deviates from the norm. But she continues to show her truth. This eventually leads to her becoming a more well-rounded adult (instead of just another Kardashian type). My girls, they’re farther down the path of self-actualization—closer to self-awareness, empathy and a greater receptivity to the facts. That’s how a shirt changes the world. It either pushes a woman further towards vanity—or towards integration and enlightenment. I want the later.
It’s lastly a no because no one remembers the man behind the curtain. Today, a business is only a separate entity on paper. When you think Apple, you think Steve Jobs. Or whoever, depending on “you.” It’s why the Kardashians are successful; they infuse themselves into their model. This is, of course, relative to the type of business, market audience, etc. but I’m doing it too! Maybe I’m right. Maybe I’m wrong—or neutral. I’ll find out. #truth#bigmouth#creativepreneur
