Maurizio Sarri may have the services of the best player in Europe, but the Italian knows that, for all Eden Hazard’s brilliance in attack, Chelsea’s chances of winning the Premier League are undermined by their failings in defence.
Asked if he thought Chelsea are genuine title contenders, Warnock responded: “Absolutely, they are a good side.” But he added: “Against the top teams I think he [Sarri] will be working on certain things at the back. The top teams will find a weakness in certain areas.” Sarri agreed with Warnock. “I think he is right, because we are very dangerous in the defensive phase, and we need to improve there. But I think we can do it.” “Only eight players arrived for training at the beginning of the pre-season, so I think it’s normal that in this period we have some defensive problems. We can cope with the problems with the quality in the offensive phase, but not in the defensive phase. So I have to organise them better defensively and the players have to understand that.” “In my opinion two teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, are better than us. We have to improve step by step, and my target is to become the best team in England in one year to 18 months.” Sarri wants Hazard to concentrate his effectiveness in the final third of the pitch rather than dropping deep to start moves from the halfway line. The manager believes Hazard can score 40 goals this season if he expends less energy in the middle of the pitch, and even win the Golden Boot. “Yes, I think so. I told him he can score 40 goals. He has to improve some things, but he can do it.” #BlueIsTheColour#CFC#CFCFans#CFCFamily#CFCTillIDie#BPL#EPL#PremierLeague#PreSeason#CFCTour#Champions#ComeOnYouBlues#PremierLeagueChampions#ChelseaFC#COYB#KTBFFH#IfItsNotBlueItWillBe#CFCArmy#TheBlues#Chelsea_KTBFFH#ChelseaFans#ChelseaKWT#CFCNews#CFCTransfers#CFCTour#MaurizioSarri#Sarri#GianfrancoZola
