there’s gotta be more to life than striving and grinding and chasing | there’s gotta be more to life than spending HOURS of mental & physical energy agonizing over the bumps and curves | there’s gotta be more to live than waking up, living for and obsessing over ourselves, then going to bed, just to wake up and do it again tomorrow. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• when I consider how unbalanced my life was: horrible priorities, disillusioned “goals”, habits that took up SO much mental space and physical time that I had ZERO capacity (or energy) to devote myself to something that ACTUALLY MATTERED beyond how I looked and was perceived. Gosh I was selfish. Pure aesthetic goals. How does me being X pounds or a size X contribute to society or serve others in any way? It pisses me off that this obsession and life-sucking disorder kept me from building friendships, serving at church, developing my gifts and (true) passions, and living a life that is fulfilling and purposeful. UNTIL NOW. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Ladies, we have to redeem that time. We have to fight against #dietculture and the horrific, destructive lies it tells us constantly. We have to find inner strength and courage to go beyond ourselves, to reject the sexy claims dieting “promises”, and to have the courage to let go of the thin ideal and RUN FAST & HARD toward what we were MADE to do: love God and love people. Let’s be women who empower women. This community is amazing and has potential to move mountains toward true freedom!!
I think if I’ve learned anything the last 25 years, it’s to not to approach life so seriously. Change is inevitable. Life happens—good and bad. We continue to grow older (and hopefully wiser) as the world around us seems to speed up. Yet, in the midst of the turmoil around us, we have to keep pressing on—somehow. I have realized that one of the best traits that my family possesses is our ability to laugh. We may be simultaneously crying, yet somehow, we always manage to find something to laugh about. Call me crazy, but I think it’s a strength (although sometimes it’s untimely 😏🙈). Don’t be so afraid of what others think about you that you loose sight of the joy and uniqueness that you have been given. I’m goofy. I thrive making ridiculous puns BECAUSE, underneath, I really just want to make people smile. I have come to a place where I stopped caring if I look crazy because we need more laughter in the world today. We need more JOY. So let’s stop being afraid of looking “uncool” and start LIVING. .

David blessed God in full view of the entire congregation: Blessed are you, God of Israel, our father from of old and forever. To you, O God , belong the greatness and the might, the glory, the victory, the majesty, the splendor; Yes! Everything in heaven, everything on earth; the kingdom all yours! You’ve raised yourself high over all. Riches and glory come from you, you’re ruler over all; You hold strength and power in the palm of your hand to build up and strengthen all. And here we are, O God, our God, giving thanks to you, praising your splendid Name.
1 Chronicles 29:10-13 MSG
How hard it is to live in the world, when you’re not of the world! It’s a constant battle between the easy superficial and materialistic we encounter, opposed to the hidden beauty and hard truth we must sacrifice and offer our lives for. My unhappiness was found in the middle of both worlds, as I struggled and veered off left to right, for aren’t we influenced and hold a certain wishfulness when temptation strikes the unexpected sinner? Through prayer and the sacraments , we have all we need for this constant fight with God, for when He allows Satan to test us, He can test us severely. To whose fault is it but our own? Especially when we neglect prayer, penance, and sacrifice, we could be overcome with temptation and sin. For as Satan is cruel, neglecting God is crueler. “God understands”, is a lie we tell ourselves for comfort as our conscience eats away. God understands you didn’t have time for Him out of a whole day. God understands you chose hours of entertainment over one hour of prayer. God understands you did things for your friends approval, rather than His own. He understands so well, because God knows you completely. Then again I ask, to whose fault is it but our own when trial strikes? When God breaks and takes all that you loved and found value in? How is it sad, when God is trying to show you that you can’t live without Him, because in Heaven, it’s Him. If you can’t live even on earth loving God, you can’t live in Heaven loving God.
“God doesn’t only want us to listen, He also wants us to put in practice what we learn. When you read Scripture, life is given. Your desire to do the will of God increases. The Word teaches you and it also confronts you.[...] If you have stopped reading the Word, get back into it. It teaches us about the necessary weapons needed to fight against the many things that life throws at us.” 🙏 - Pastora Nydia Aceituno / First Lady Nydia Aceituno.
