Living in a time like today, it is very important that we practice what it's like to be Counter-Cultural. Like Mordecai, we don't want to bow down to unGodly culture. Find out more from last week's sermon: Arise and Shine which is now up on our website! Link in Bio 😎

*Ex* The major theme that runs through Philippians is Christian ethical virtue to prepare the people of God for the day of Christ, when he returns again. Moral exhortation amongst friends was at the heart of friendships in ancient times, they were expected to cultivate moral virtue in one another. Paul’s idea of love (agape) was less about affection and more about group attachment & bonding. Paul is therefore praying in this prayer that the abundance of community spirit will increase which should do two things; bring an increase in attachment to God and bond the people of God together. *Her* It is my heart that community is central to my Christianity and, that which is now counter culture & many in the church are unsure is ok to do, hold each other to account in Biblical virtue. If we do these two things in love, out of the desire for bonding & attaching, we will all draw closer together to God and closer to each other. #Philippians#biblicalcommentary#teachersheart#theology#church#christianity
| Anxiety |
Anxiety has plagued human societies for years. There is so much that is out of our control, from the weather down to how people treat us. As Christians Christ gives us a metaphor of how we can rest and be secure that his hand will guide us and the father will provide for us even in our bleakest moments.
Each day will bring its own troubles “"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:34 ESV But every morning there will be new mercies and reasons to rejoice in God “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV Glory to God!
