“What’s really important for myself and the team to have a clear vision and mission that we are all working towards. Not just our aesthetic vision, but our purpose as a team and a brand. I feel that audiences can tell when you are all rowing in the same direction and that bleeds across into our marketing and output” @cassiesnelgar shares how she grew @the.x.cartel to average 100k monthly unique visitors in just six months. I’ve been to @altsummit 4 times and each one brings a sense of purpose and clarity. So when they asked us for our dream keynote speaker I decided to go for the queen!
@oprah needs no introduction clearly. But I would love to see more people of color represented at the summit (ultra celeb and mere mortals alike!)
Who else wants to hear Oprah share her wisdom?!
Ok, I’d jump at the chance to go to @altsummit for the first time. So here goes, this is my two cents on who should speak.⠀
Misty Copeland @mistyonpointe is the role model I wished I’d had in my childhood and that’s why she’s my #altdreamkeynote. Where ballet is concerned, she is perfection; and she broke the mold of who a perfect ballerina could be. She was the first African American dancer to be promoted to Principle at @abtofficial, one of the country’s premier dance companies. She has changed the dance world ideal of fragile, ethereal dancer, to strong and present. I look at her photos and think “She might actually be a superhero.” And on top of it, she’s a present-day icon who has built her own brand outside of her dance career. ⠀
She shares a message of hard work and tenacity, and inspires others, from her young fans to adults to go after what we love to do. She’s even got fans who don’t even follow dance. Her theme consistently seems to be: “do not accept limitations placed on you by others.” Who could be better as an #altsummit speaker?⠀
You know what's nice about making prints? The ability to change and add to your art without fear of ruining it. I had the idea to darken my colours and add some decorative spots to my rubber plant painting...but I was unsure if I would like it. So I scanned my art as it was so at least I would be able to make prints even if I didn't like my new original. But..I do! So I'm glad for the ability to push and try new things! Xo
New art materials from Paris and memories of the #gustavklimt show @atelierdeslumieres has me 😍😍! I didn’t sketch a lot on our trip but I sure did soak in all the inspiration. Sometimes as an artist I feel like there is a pressure to constantly create something physical but there is so much value in pausing and slowing down. Give yourself time to be refreshed and inspired by something new.
