Day 1 of 232 until marathon day! I decided to commit to a daily run for the next 232 days because I wanted to challenge myself. There was nothing special about this specific date, I just wanted to start and to start today rather than a specific date *cough new year cough*. So if you want to do anything but have been dragging it out, waiting for a specific time. Ditch it and just do it now! Life is happening right now!
I’ve been so inspired today by✌️stories that touched my 💜 and made me shed a few tears. I couldn’t not share with you all.
1️⃣ On my recovery run today I listened to @rambling_runner . This was a recent one with @runrchic1 (Hollie Hughes) where she talks about her journey to finish the Wineglass Marathon in 3:08 while pushing her sweet boy in his chair. Oh my goodness- this story warmed 🔥 my heart in SO many ways. You can just tell what an amazing mom she is, and I was SO inspired! I couldn’t do the story justice if I tried, you have to listen! But I’ll tell you that my favorite parts were when she kept referring to the race as “their race” and and when Jonah yelled out to the other runner’s inspiring words during the last 6 miles. Seriously ALL the feels!! 🤗
2️⃣Then, I was reading the news (which for me is running websites) and I checked out the Runner’s world.com website. Here I saw this video on their homepage about Justin Gallegos who was just given a Nike contract. He has cerebral palsy and is currently trying to break 2 hours in the half marathon. He’s the first person with cerebral palsy to become a professional athlete! This kiddo’s determination and passion are beyond my comprehension- I was seriously in awe of some of his positive quotes and work ethic. It’s a 3 minute video- watch it!!
These stories were SO inspiring in so many ways, I just had to share. It really made me think twice about the dumb things I get hung up on from time to time- like a crappy run, my pace being off by a few seconds, knots in my calf, a bad day at work. I know it’s natural to have worries and frustrations, but good grief, watching/listening to these stories really puts things into perspective, you know?
🏃🏻♀️👀Looked forward to this workout all week. It’s so fun to start introducing a little bit of speed💥 .
2 mile warm up, 6 mile progression run starting at 7:26 down to 6:56. Good thing is the run felt VERY comfortable. Bad thing is I had to walk it back to the gym after 8 miles because my achilles suddenly started to hurt again🤨😭To say I’m bummed is an understatement. As runners we cruise along on top of the world thinking all is fantastic, until suddenly it isn’t👎🏻 .
Arrived back at the gym with purple lips (so I was told) cuz brrrrrr...it was cold!Did 30 minutes of easy spinning on the bike to loosen up and force feed some blood to that cranky achilles👩🏻⚕️ then almost got hypothermia after hopping in the pool for some pool walking☃️Thankfully I made friends with a nice lady who chatted with me the whole time so the minutes passed quickly💥
Back to some cross training days, and we will go from there. No slacking💪🏻
