I feel like it’s gotta be a really good sign when you go to get your @thebudgetmom’s #budgetworkbook bound and you turn around and find @daveramsey’s book on the shelf! This month is me getting ready to go into overdrive to tackle baby step 1. Just need to set up my financial binders/folders and it’ll be smooth sailing from here!
#babyfrugal so I told you guys I’d do a post on how much we have spent on LadyBug! Since we saved all of MJs clothes, these are the only clothes we’ve bought #bondsaddict 🙋🏻♀️ zippys as my husband hates the clip suits, a swaddle and of course mermaid 😍 suit/pants!! Other then the extra nappy budget the only other big ticket item we brought was a car seat! We brought a 6mo-8year forward facing 5 anchor belted seat for MJ costing $380 (rrp $699) after #thehusbandhaggle and LadyBug will use MJs old seat as it’s a 0-4yo extended rear facing seat! Also bought LB a new pillow for breastfeeding on $12 and birth certificate cost $63. With the amount of 💩 nappy budget is going to go up, using @aldiaustralia newborn nappies, there not to bad 🤷🏻♀️ Any other frugal babies happening soon? Any questions 😊 I’m happy to answer!
0638: toddler dressed and given breakfast, I'm up and ready, managed to load up the car with the push chair, both our bags, my friend's laptop that I borrowed and the bedside table that I sold to a colleague. Feeling like supermum this morning! I'm feeling quite anxious this morning, after being blackmailed into handing over P's passport by her dad last week, he is ignoring me when I tell him I'm not happy with him having contact with her unsupervised (he is adamant that he is taking her abroad to visit his aunt for 11 days, despite the fact I have made it abundantly clear that I'm not happy for her to go) and has just chosen to pretend it wasn't said. Helpful. Nursery have been good so far, they called me to say he had called to tell them he plans to collect her early this afternoon, so my mum is going to get her at around 11. I feel a bit uneasy but am trying to keep calm; I'm at work just around the corner from nursery so I can go and get her if I really need to. On a positive note, I've done a couple of surveys this morning already to add to the Ikea fund and I'm hoping today will be a no spend day! Hope everyone has a lovely day. 💕👩👧 #debtfreecommunity#debtfree#debtfreeuk#debtfreejourney#debtfreecommunityuk#frugal#reselling#paidsurveys#positivity#thinkpositive#managingmoney#singleparent#singlemum#singlemummy#toddlermum#coparenting#friday#organised#goodstart
A new flybuys offer and I noticed that my balance is over $770! I haven't decided how I'm going to use it yet. In the past I've redeemed them for things like magazine subscriptions, kitchen items and even a baby monitor. I haven't used them for around 2 years now which is why the balance is so big. I'm not a very aggressive flybuys shopper - I really try and not get sucked into buying stuff for the points and instead only buy things I was going to buy anyway, but maybe a bit earlier to fit in with these weekly spends.
Maybe I'll get some Coles vouchers to help with Christmas? We went way over budget with food last Christmas. Or I was thinking of getting Coles vouchers and then investinging my usual grocery money into shares. What do with fly buys points?
Tried out my first @blueapron meal tonight. It was great! The apple was a little mushy but since I was cooking it, it didn't really matter. The first pic was the picture on the card, the second was my final result.
I enjoyed sitting down for a good meal at the table even if I didn't have anyone to dine with. The transition to single life isn't easy, but sometimes the little things make it easier.
Today was a tough day. I figured out that I may have to pause my snowball before it even really gets started. I have been side hustling like crazy this month, and I’m a little overextended right now; when I realized that I may have to pause instead of using all my side hustle money to pay off one credit card and put a big dent in another, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back 🐪. I really understand how people struggle to stay motivated, especially early on in the journey. When it rains, it pours ☔️! I’m taking a night to myself and I know I’ll wake up with a better perspective on these new developments. Sometimes, that’s all we can do!
How do you stay motivated when you face a potential setback?
I usually have a few gifts purchased by now, but this year I only have two gifts in my gift closet. I've been reading a lot of minimalism books so I'm rethinking my old gift giving ways. Not sure yet how I will navigate my new found idea of "less is more" without taking away any of our gift giving traditions....especially with extended family. ANYWAY...I wanted to share with you one of my favorite ways to save for Christmas all year round. I use the ibotta app and save all the earnings to redeem for gift cards to do a lot of my holiday shopping with. I usually redeem for Amazon, Target, and Walmart gift cards.
Here's how it works:
1️⃣Check the app before or after you go grocery shopping for products you already purchase.
2️⃣Redeem your offers by taking a photo of your receipt. They'll match the items you bought to the offers you selected and give you the cash!
3️⃣Your cash back will be deposited into your Ibotta account within 48 hours.🙌
That's it! Super easy! If you're not using ibotta yet use my link (in my profile) and you will receive a $10 bonus and I $5 after the first time you use the app. .
How do you prepare for Christmas? Please share!
