Steps to no return. There are lots of interesting stories contained in this one photo. This is an area past “the point of no return” above Niagara Falls. The bridge in the background marks the place you do not want to pass if you plan to stay alive and/or not go over the falls. The flat barge ship seen to the left has been in that spot for 100 years. It broke loose from a tug boat in 1917 and the men on the barge had the smarts to open a hatch in the bottom to allow water to flood it and ground it just before going over the falls. Rescue efforts in that day and time proved quite difficult and a daredevil/stunt man was called in to help save the men stuck on the barge, which he accomplished. The steps belong to an abandoned power plant along the river past the point of no return. Why these steps lead right into the raging and deadly waters...I have no idea!?
