Day two of my staycation went to the dogs! .
If you know anything about Dobermans they demand a lot of attention. I have been known to not take a vacation or took a raincheck on going certain places because of the attention they desire and really need.
To some they are just dogs, just three BIG dogs....but clearly not to me. They are my "babies" that I care more about in this world and want them to have the best life they possibly can. A little story time: when I was a little girl I had two cocker spaniels named Buffy and Minnie that I loved dearly. I will never forget the day I came home to a new house we had just moved into and there was Buffy, our new family dog running up and down the backyard in so much excitement! I would pop on my roller skates and let her run her buns off whilst pulling me through town. We later found that Buffy was expecting and when she had her first litter, we added her daughter Minnie to our family. During the winters we would play in the snow and they were do small, watching them hover through the snow mounds was very amusing to me. .
We moved yet again and tragically they were taken while in my backyard one spring night. I remember the night vividly because it was nice enough to finally keep the windows open and I remember hearing them play in the backyard until it went silent. I still have no knowledge of what really happened to my Buffy and Minnie and I have never gotten over it. I take responsibility for their disappearance and I vowed to make it up to them someway, somehow. .
Lucy came into my life and the rest is history. Not only has she given me so much love, companionship, emotional support and protection but she has allowed me to finally pay my respects and tribute to my first real heartbreak that after 18 years was able to symbolically let them rest in peace.
So now you know why these girls are more important to me than many other things.
