This is EXACTLY why it is dangerous to let people, (especially strangers) pet your dog. It does NOT matter how "friendly" your dog is. It does not matter how many times people have pet your dog with no problems. It takes just one second for a dog to react and bite and then you are the person standing there saying what every other dog owner has said when their dog bit somebody, ..."it never happened before". The woman who was bit will now need facial surgery. The dogs owner fled the scene with her dog but is now being sought after. Her dog will most likely face quarantine and could be put down. Is it worth the risk to possibly face the situation this dog owner is currently in? Is it worth it to risk losing a beloved pet simply because you want other people to touch your dog? What's the benefit? People think you have a cool dog and they got to touch it? Don't worry, they will still think your dog is cool even if they don't get to pet it. The worst part of this is that the dog will be blamed for biting for the woman and now it's life is on the line. It's owner is the one to blame! The dog did not ask to be put in that situation. Your dog should not be used for "show-and-tell" when you are out in public. Feel free to share your thoughts. People view these situations differently and I'd like to hear how you feel about. Do you agree with me? Disagree? And let's keep the discussion mature. .
