Meditation is an easy and quick way to unwind and focus your mind. Take a few deep breaths and try to clear your mind. It’s ok if your mind wanders, don’t get frustrated just focus your attention back to your breathing. After a minute or two you should feel more relaxed and ready to tackle your Sunday work. 🧠🧠🧠
Facilitating this amazing discussion about the 2018 midterm elections with Judy Woodruff (PBS), John Harwood (CNBC), and Nia-Malika Henderson (CNN) was a career highlight! Thanks so much to DukeDC/the DukeDC Women’s Forum for making it possible! #dukeuniversity#dukealumni#dukesanford
Yesterday I led a sculpture workshop called “Playful Vaginas” at Duke as part of the Calla Campaign. This campaign is led by female scientists and doctors, including biomedical engineer Mercy Asiedu, who invented the Callascope, an affordable, accessible alternative to the speculum for cervix exams. They are using art and artists as a way to discuss the stories surrounding these topics. My workshop focused on using female anatomy to create playful, joyful sculptures and to visit/debunk common myths esp about feminine hygiene and disrupt the shame that lingers for many around these issues. The participants and the resulting sculptures were so wonderful! Here are a few of the sculptures of vulvas that we made.
