Been spending loads of money on eco branded recycled bin bags but couldn't get any so bought @tescofood win brand bin bags. Was happy to discover they are made from 100% recycled plastic! And much cheaper too! Made in the UK which is also a bonus.
#ecohome#scandinaviandesign#dompodkrakowem#scandihome

Today we made these pegs to be used through our mortise and tenon joints on the window frames. They're made from the same hardwood as the frames- beautiful Australian Ironbark, from beams which are being reused now for the third time. Dad made the little groove in the bench to sit the peg into so it can be easily planed to a rough round shape. These are then hammered into a pre-drilled hole through the mortise and tenon joints in place of a nail. I was going to use the wood chips and sawdust in my compost but being hardwood we're thinking it could take a long time to break down!
Handy since 3.3 million years ago! Did you know there's evidence of the simple hammer being in use millions of years ago - that's longer than any other tool we still use - wonder how much the design of this efficient tool has changed since? #YBLQT
Growth of the cotton project doesn’t only benefit the village artisans. It benefits you- and the planet! Once you start using well made, quality cotton products you will begin to notice how they compare to mass produced textiles. Tai Leu cotton softens and gains character as it is used. The finished product is well made. It won’t fall apart or come undone at the seams after one or two wears.
Cotton is a natural fiber that comes from the earth and biodegrades back into it. Our Tai Leu Products also use natural, local color. These materials are less harsh on the environment and require minimal fuel to transport between suppliers.
By surrounding your home and body with items that you have carefully chosen and absolutely love, we hope that you will discover a deeper satisfaction with your purchases, resulting in less waste and fewer products going to the landfill. .
Thinking about going off grid but not too sure what’s involved 🤔
To avoid disappointment, there are a couple of key things to consider when designing your off grid system.
One of these is the inverter. Consider a grid connected solar system for a moment - in a grid connected system your inverter sits side by side with the grid - which means you can access almost infinite power at any given time and all your appliances will still work fine. If the inverter can’t handle what you’re pulling from the system that’s okay you will simply draw power from the grid as well . The lights will stay on and the coffee machine still works ☕️. All is well with the world.
With off grid systems you have no mains as a back up, it’s a completely different scenario. Your inverter needs to have the capacity to handle the load that you are going to need at any given time. We also recommend you have a secondary power source, such as a generator to provide load support. Your generator becomes your plan B. If more power is needed than what the inverter can supply the generator will automatically start through the settings we put inside the inverter.
The generator will also start if you’ve had cloudy weather ⛅️ and haven’t had the sun available for the solar panels to be able to completely charge the batteries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This all works to protect the life of your batteries to make sure they’re getting to a healthy state of charge each day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #solarpanels#electricalcontractor#sparky#ecohome#ecobusiness#buylocally#shoplocally#smallfamilybusiness#dubbo#dubbonsw#tradie#localtrades

Our first of #10Things: Plastic... not fantastic ☝🏾 Every time we do laundry, our clothes shed tiny, unseen microfibers (including plastic), which go down the drains of our washing machines and into our waterways. So there’s plastic hiding in our waterways and ocean! Not great for the animals living in those waters, or for us – consuming fish or sea salt. A simple step we take at the ‘mat - and you can take in your own washer as well: Throw a @thecoraball in with your load! It collects microfibers into visible fuzz, which then can be disposed of the right way. Yay 😁
