Yesterday I came home from a clinic with Arne Koets. I had been photographing the clinic all week and during the weekend I had signed up to bring Caja. I have met Arne several times during the past year now but never brought my horse. I never felt good enough and didn't feel good enough when it was time either. I was thinking about selling my spot a few times... Also had a nightmare the night before I had to ride my first lesson... 😂
And well, in the end things didn't go as planned. Caja got into a heat just the day before the clinic... So the first day it went really bad... It was very hard to get through to/contact with Caja... She wasn't at all like at home and she totally forgot that she actually knows haunches-in and shoulder-in. She also was behind the vertical like ALL THE TIME which she never does at home! I didn't even have to touch the reins for her to go behind the vertical... Probably everything also was affected a bit by my nervous state of mind, I think. 🤔 At the end of the first lesson I felt so disappointed and frustrated... But after a lot of peptalks from many lovely people I sort of stopped caring about how it went and accepted the situation 😅❤️ Anyway, the second day did go a little better. We had a better contact but she was still behind the vertical... So I'm not totally satisfied with our work this weekend but Arne managed to give us some light bulb moments anyway and I look forward to try these new things at home. 😊 Definitely going to sign up one more time which will probably only go better.
