Thought we would share a little piece of history today in honor of Special Forces Regiment being formed officially 66 years ago today — we started doing some R&D on a few different designs (diver/pilot/field) and moving forward once piece at a time, but this is a 1-2 year process from start to finish on each piece. Part of this process is to find and study historically significant pieces to try to have a better understanding about the design and original thought behind it and help us with our process. The piece in the picture was pointed out to us by @danc21cy and is a Seiko 6119-8060. This piece and a few other Seiko models where ordered by the the Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO). This group supplied the latest and greatest materials for the Military Assistance Command-Vietnam, Studies and Observation Group (MAC-V SOG) personnel. Due to MAC-V SOG operating in areas that they were not officially supposed to be, they needed “sterile” gear. Consequently, there would be no real way to differentiate them from ordinary watches sold through civilian channels. By the end of the war many of these pieces where either damaged due to the jungle conditions or gifted to partner nation forces. This just hits the wave tops on one model that was used during the Vietnam war that we wanted to share with you. — By the way, the piece that we picked up runs about +7 seconds a day for accuracy. Not bad for a 40 something year old piece. (1st 6119-8060 /2nd 1969 7005-8030) #SanginInstruments#Sangin#WithYou
