I have been all over NYC the last few days, trying to keep up with @siobhaise and her 25k steps a day photowalk workout. It’s not so bad, bc the diet includes nothing but coffee, g&ts, and pastries. Oh okay, occasionally some bacon or pizza.
It feels like we photographed every square inch of the city, so we saw a lot of shops. I have to say that this one will be the most memorable for me. I thought this was just a rustic looking flower/plant shop with a coffee bar tucked away somewhere. No. This is a cozy florist tucked in the front of a enormous bar/restaurant, hewn from massive wooden beams, complete with library wall of 30,000 plus jazz records and DJ loft overlooking the vintage industrial chic dining room. Literal jaw drop moment when we walked in and realized the scale of it. We spoke with the art director for a few minutes and learned this space has just reopened over the summer after a devastating fire 5 years ago. She talked us through all of the design elements of the space, right down to the typeface for the menus and the new concept for what used to be a Korean fried chicken place. They’re aging their homemade soju in jars displayed floor to ceiling over the imposing bar. Anyway, I was in moody vintage heaven and will post some more photos of the interior in stories today.
