A few people have asked what this lyric means, from our new song ‘I AM’ - ‘every time I fight between me and my fears, it’s a war you’ve won for thousands of years’
The more I dive into my own psyche, the more I understand that the way our society has been for thousands of years has shaped the inner battles I face today. We are constantly brainwashed into believing we are not good enough, we are not slim enough, we are not young enough, we are not beautiful enough, we are not clever enough, we are not talented enough, we are just not enough.... it’s something we’ve been told every single day through the media, images, culture and many religions... and this creates a fear in me, literally every time I try and step forward in life. It creates a fear even in writing this post. And it is engrained deep inside so many of us.
But here’s the thing I’ve realised - our basic human nature is to be strong, to be warrior like, and to also at the same time be vulnerable and honest and open. Being our most true selves is powerful. I understand why people were afraid of that power and felt they needed to shut it down - cue the brainwashing. But - we are living in a new time now, and it’s time to allow ourselves to be powerful. Imagine what a world we could create if we weren’t all so caught up in ‘not enoughness’? And so.... I will climb my way until I can see, I will fight my way to who im meant to be, I will love my way through life completely free because I AM me
