Tb to the great Silk Road adventure. This is the Westernmost part of the Great Wall of China that spans 21,196 km long in total and the defender of Chinese civilisation as the person who guided me here said. With the snow-capped Qilian Mountain on the background and geographically close to present day Mongolia. Walked 3 hours to find this spot, was chased by so many wild dogs for some parts (and sort of tamed them), this view made it worth the hard work. Jiayuguan is also the first place in the world where I experienced snow in a desert, unforgettable night trying to sleep there. Special place. Special thanks to the locals who guided me there. #silkroad#丝绸之路#jiayuguan#greatwallofchina#gansu
The great wall of China that we see today was constructed primarily during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It measures 8850km and is considered to be one of the greatest architectural feats in history.
Pictured is the section of the wall called Jiankou near the Beijing knot.
