Archduchess Elisabeth Marie of Austria
Elisabeth Marie was the only child of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria, and Crown Princess Stephanie (b. Princess Stephanie of Belgium)
Her full name was Elisabeth Maria Henriette Stephanie Gisela, she was born on September 2, 1883 in the Empire of Austria, her royal title was Her Imperial and Royal Highness. From her father side she was part of the Habsburg house and from her mother she was part of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha house.
She was a granddaughter of Emperor Franz-Joseph I of Austria, and King Leopold II of Belgium. She was nicknamed “Erzsi”, she was named after her grandmothers, Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Queen Marie Henriette of Belgium. The only child of his only (deceased) son, Erzsi was Franz Joseph's favorite granddaughter.
When Erzsi was five, her father killed himself in a famous murder-suicide pact. After Rudolf's death, Franz Joseph took over guardianship of Erzsi; by his order, she was forbidden to leave Austria with her mother. At a young age she displayed a strong personality, as well as an opposition to the Viennese court.
When Erzsi was 17 (in 1900) her mother renounced her title of Crown Princess to marry a younger man of lower status. Elisabeth broke off all contact with her mother as she disapproved of the marriage, feeling it a betrayal of her father's memory. Later, following her marriage, Stéphanie retaliated by disinheriting Elisabeth in 1934.

September 25, 1506 – Death of Philip I of Castile (the Handsome), husband of Queen Juana I of Castile at Burgos, Castile (Spain); buried at the Capilla Real in Granada
Philip was the son of Mary, Duchess of Burgundy and Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor. He was the first member of the house of Habsburg to be King of Castile. The son of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, at the age of three Philip inherited the greater part of the Duchy of Burgundy and the Burgundian Netherlands (as Philip IV) from his mother, Mary, and at 27 briefly succeeded to the Crown of Castile as the husband of Queen Joanna, who was also heir presumptive to the Crown of Aragon. He was the first Habsburg monarch in Spain. He never inherited his father's territories or became Holy Roman Emperor because he predeceased his father, but his son Emperor Charles V eventually united the Habsburg, Burgundian, Castilian, and Aragonese inheritances.
Philip died suddenly apparently of typhoid fever on 25 September 1506, although a poisoning (assassination) was widely spoken of at the time, and is what his wife believed to be the cause of Philip's death. His wife supposedly refused to allow his body to be buried or part from it for a while; and traveled with his coffin. Philip’s remains were laid to rest in 1509.
Appreciating the original work of Gustav Klimt's 'The Kiss' @ Belvedere Baroque Museum in Vienna - definitely the highlight of my tour in Austria 😄
Klimt's use of the golden mosaics, illustration of flowers and femininity, and portrayal of a gentle kiss on Emilie Floge's cheek (rather than a kiss on the lips) were all intriguing. 😍
Our family was stunned from the time we saw the Schonbrunn Palace and Belvedere Museum. These two gorgeous places are 'must-see' areas for sure !
After this palace tour, our family got to Figlmuller Schnitzel restaurant kind of by chance; both veal and pork cutlets tasted 👍👍👍. 🍗🍟🍔
