“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” If you told me four years ago that signing up for one Tough Mudder with @sammylee224 would’ve turned into all this, I would’ve laughed. I was a couch potato who hadn’t worked out in years. So when I look at all these pictures, I’m proud of myself and amazed at how far I’ve come.
For me, mud runs aren’t about proving to other people what I can do. They’re about challenging myself and pushing my body and mind to places I never thought possible.
Every time I cross the finish line, I haven’t just conquered another race; I’ve conquered myself too.
Sometimes you just have to get it done. Like when your son decides to sleep on the couch and says to workout anyway, you just do it....in the dark. 😝
It doesn’t mean I didn’t work hard though, I just tried to keep my grunting and swearing to a minimum.
What hurdles are keeping you from working on yourself daily? Is it little interruptions that seem to come more days than not? Is it the fear of not being able to do the workout? How about just the feeling of “I don’t want to”?
Well, I can promise you that all of those have happened to me. Actually just in the last month all of those excuses have been present in my life, but I am not giving up. I am going to get back on track. Now is a good time to start with me. I need a couple of people to hit that reset button with me. We are starting a new group in just over a week to help us all with accountability and planning. 👍🏻 Who’s in?
What a great ride so far. Kicking ass on the fat bike. #tostupidtooquit As I ride up on people they keep yelling #carback because they think I am a vehicle my bike tires hum so loud lol. Hopefully we can bring more gym members next year. If you could see the diversity of the ride you would immediately want to be here. We’ve seen people you would never suspect would be riding. There is a picture of a seven-year-old girl, a 92-year-old man, and I even saw a special-needs guy lay his bike down on the gravel loop, then pick it up, hop back on and cruise away. You can kick ass no matter what your physical condition. Mental is all that matters. Thanks for all of our friends and family keeping the kids and the gym safe and productive while we are enjoying some quality time together. #ragbrai2018#ragbrai#fatbike#idoitforthebeer#embracethesuck#showup and #kickass#templetonrye
