Let's talk a bit about Neymar Jr.
As most of you probably heard, Neymar, according to many usually reliable sources, is regretting his decision to leave Barcelona for Paris back in September of last year. He moved for €222 Million and earns €31 Million a year.
Yet, he's unhappy. But why?
Recently he has apparently been in touch with many of his Barça teammates, saying that he misses the Nou Camp, his friends, Barcelona, and Messi particularly.
However, what he says is the main reason for him wanting to leave Paris, is the lack of competitiveness present in the Ligue 1. Since the 2016/17 season, where AS Monaco got to the UCL semi-final and won the French League, they have gone down the drain completely as they sold Mbappé, Lemar, their brightest talents, and are only left with Falcao in that lethal front three, and although Falcao is one of the greatest players, he doesn't have a team really. Other than that, the other teams to consider are Olympique Lyonnais, which never really stands out, especially without Lacazette, and Marseille, which is incredibly inconsistent. Let me not go into any other french teams as they are nowhere near a level that you would find from, say, the Serie A, or Liga, which in my opinion hold the highest quality football at the moment.
Anyway, coming back to Neymar, there is absolutely 100% no doubt that there is barely any competition in France, and that leaves Paris' success solely on the Champions League. If they don't qualify for the round of 16, PSG's season is virtually over in February. This also means that Paris goes into big games like against Real Madrid last year, for example, where they were so used to having zero competition that as soon as they faced a quality team they got beat up pretty bad by Los Blancos.
Now that we understood why Neymar might want to come back, should he? From our view?
As much as I want him, Dembelé would lose key playtime because he's never gonna play in big games, nevermind UCL. Malcolm would become useless, as third choice winger. But it's always good to have a top notch player like Neymar to rely on.
For now, this is how things stand. Let's focus on our season, We'll see in January.
Firmino has entered Barça’s agenda for replacing Suarez, who turns 32 this season. Liverpool would be willing to let their star Brazilian striker, who has a good relationship with Coutinho, go for a reasonable price. [team talk via MD].
