OUCH! This is something that definitely crosses my mind when on side roads. Wildlife; in this case a Kangaroo😝, has a mind of its own and will not accommodate us in any way. Be safe out there everyone! 😊
So, friends...it is apparent that ya’ll love salads as much as I do! Good on ya! 💪🏻👏🏻
I like to mix up my salads as much as I like to mix up what I kick them up with! Why buy salad dressing, when you can make healthy and super delish dressings that make your salad pop? This is my vinaigrette kit. This collection gives me a lot of flexibility to bring yummy notes of flavor and happiness to my salad bowl!
Oils? Grab a few kinds...just
STAY AWAY FROM VEGETABLE BASED! ☠️ Grab some different vinegars. 😋 There are so many amazing, infused types to choose from. Classic ratio is 3:1 (oil-vinegar). Then choose any other add-ins to bring out the flavor you like. I have really gotten into trying some different citrus flavors. Citrus is an acid like vinegar, so consider adjusting your ratio to accommodate your citrus add. From here, adding other flavor, spices and herbs is up to you and your palette. Kick it up, try something new...break out...go for it...but, eat more veggies and 😊
Go get some, friends! 👍🏻🙏🏻
I felt like I was swimming through sludge. My heart rate was in zone 4 from the warm up. Going downhill. Easy. 🤦🏼♀️ and it only got tougher from there. So here I am putting out a call......
....where’s my fellow #hypothyroidathlete friends at? Ugh. It’s been 11.5 years since my surgeries that put me into remission. But that doesn’t mean the struggles ended. In fact, they only really begun. On the way home from #ituworldchampionships - I accidentally shoved my meds in my suitcase at 2 am on the way to airport. @airfrance has promptly lost our bags and given us the run around. I’ve been 3+ days without my meds and I felt every single second of those days in today’s run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong. I’m thankful to be alive. I GET to do this. And this was partly my mistake but doesn’t change the impact having no thyroid has on my athletics. That hour speedwork Run was junk. But a good mental challenge - if not also physical. I’m headed to get an emergency refill. I can get the meds back into my system but this is a lifelong thing to take into account. The foods I eat that may work against my meds. Every six weeks of bloodwork. Randomly being thrown hypo symptoms and not being sure why. So....fellow hypo friends. I know your struggle. Feel free to reach out to me and vent if needed.... we gotta stick together.
It’s race week for @ironmantri Lake Placid. 140.6 miles of excitement, joy, encouragement, and accomplishment! There is however, hidden distances in transition that one must be prepared for in order to maximize their race on Sunday. SENS Fitness triathlon coach and #IMLP finisher @misterpictures shares his strategies for success Ts 1 and 2.
T1 🏊🏽♂️ to 🚴🏼♂️
After 2.4 miles of open water, you’ll be faced with a 1/4 mile barefoot run on pavement. There’s a soaking wet carpet that takes you to the transition area, but it’s useless and can be quite slick. Have the strippers (the wetsuit kind, get your mind out of the gutter 😂) peel your wetsuit off on the beach and run it up the road in your arm.
Once you get into the main transition area, you’ll be staring at rows upon rows of white bags. There really isn’t a great landmark to use here so I suggest you Count off the number of rows until your bag. Find yours in the sea of white plastic and head into the tent! If you swim sub 1:20, you should have the place mostly to yourself. Longer than that and it’ll be crowded. Rely on the volunteers to help you! And don’t forget to thank them😉
T2 🚴🏼♂️ to 🏃🏻♂️
After 112 miles of steep terrain, you’re back where you started fishing through rows of hanging plastic bags. Find your sneakers and head into the tent once more. Here’s where you can be quick. Helmet off. Cycling shoes off. Hat/visor on. Sneakers on. Run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re not looking to have fast transitions, that’s cool too! The tents offer plenty of seating, food, drink, and shade for you to relax and contemplate why they hell you decided to workout for an entire day🤷🏻♂️😃
If you’re racing Lake Placid this weekend, drop us a comment! Let us know what your goal is and we’ll cheer you on on Sunday!
It’s amazing how the same pace in practice can feel so much harder than on race day!
Trust the process!
🙄 I always struggle with the confidence in being able to hit my goal times on #tempotuesday, and typically run them on the treadmill to make sure I hit my times. 😱 It’s been a long road finding some speed back in these legs. 🏃🏻♀️ Determined to fit in my workout while on vacation, I hit the road for my speedwork this morning and happily to hit all of my times. 💪🏻#breakthroughworkout#confidencebooster
