This album opened up a whole new world for me when I first heard it. If anyone had the older Plain reissues of this, it’s time to upgrade. Kevin Shields personally supervised every aspect of this reissue and the end result is stunning. // “Loveless” - My Bloody Valentine, 1991 // 2018 AAA Reissue, cut by Matt Colton
“When bankers get together for dinner, they discuss Art. When artists get together for dinner, they discuss Money”
Oscar Wilde. When A&R execs got together in the nineties they discussed how one album almost bought down Creation Records with its glacier pace of recording and freaky technical studio and later bizarre mastering issues. Everything conspired against “Loveless” My Bloody Valentine. You won’t be able to replicate the volume of their legendarily ear bleeding live sets but listen hard and hear a victory for self indulgent recalcitrance. It’s really very good. Belated Record Store Day goodness courtesy of Aizuddin Anuar who took time out of his busy schedule in Oxford to go and queue up for Record Store Day UK and got me this wonderful 'The Weight Of History / Only Once Away My Son' release by Brian Eno and Kevin Shields. Being first in queue, he was rewarded with a free mysterious LP. His studies wasn't affected and he has since went on to graduate with flying colours and now continuing on with his PhD.
Record Store Day is obviously good for everyone.
And thanks for the t-shirts!
