Chad Phillips enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic program at LBW Community College in 1992. He went on to complete EMT-Intermediate a couple of years later and culminated with EMT-Paramedic in 1996 (named LBW 1996 Student of the Year). Phillips went to work as a fire fighter and paramedic for the Greenville Fire Department.
In 2010, Phillips decided to enroll at LBWCC and complete his Associate of Applied Science degree in emergency medical services (EMS). He was truly a non-traditional student but very determined to say the least. He completed the degree requirements in 2011.
Phillips retired as chief of the Greenville Fire Department in 2016.
He obtained the elements required to complete his former job duties from his higher education which started at LBWCC.
In the summer of 2017, Phillips enrolled in more classes at LBWCC and applied for a spot in the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program. He was accepted into the program with a goal of graduating in December 2018.
"I am very appreciative of the LBWCC opportunities that have been afforded to me over the years. I hope that my positive attitude and encouragement has touched someone along the way. The reason I was even able to encourage someone else was because of my career and position that was a result of my LBWCC education" said Phillips. #StudentHighlights#StudentSuccessStory#LBWCC#HigherEducation#communitycollege#NursingDegreeProgram#NonTraditionalStudent
