Like most of us - particularly Brits and Aussies - we love the sun and the tanned skin that comes with it. But we’re also very careful for obvious reasons. Thought we’d share our tips...
We tend to always start a holiday (especially if we haven’t seen sun for a few months) with factor 30 and only a few hours of sun the first couple of days to build up our base - we never use sun beds to do this ... very bad!
Once a tan has begun to set in we normally switch to 30 during peak sun hours (roughly 1-3pm) and 15 outside of that. We never go below 15.
Travis is half Irish and has a lot of moles, so he’s slightly more cautious and gets his moles checked every 12 months or so.
Remy tans more easily (one benefit of oily skin!) but always keeps his face out of the sun and uses factor 50 (Heliocare 360 is his favourite as doesn’t leave white streaks and protects from computer rays, too - he uses every day whether on holiday or not) as he’s prone to Rosacea (sun causes big flare ups) and has had laser to combat it so needs to be a little more careful with his face; plus is more conscious of keeping sun damage and wrinkles at bay!!
Forget aftersun!! Aloe Vera gel all the way!! And as for choosing the right products there are so many good brands. We use Piz Buin a lot as easily accessible. Always check the UV rating on the back - you want at least 4* - as this is almost more important than the factor you select. We also always go for light creams instead of heavy oily ones! And we tend to reapply every hour or so.
If any of you guys have any sun safe tips, or general grooming must-haves, please let us know as we love to find amazing products. Remy used to be a grooming editor for a men’s lifestyle magazine so is particularly obsessed (and has also had most skin conditions you can imagine so is open to questions).
