Manny Machado is the next Free Agent Profile! The 25 year old is perhaps the hottest commodity on the free agent block this offseason, and the Yankees will surely be doing their due diligence on him.
We all know the situation with Machado. One of the league’s best players. Tremendous hitter, very good defender (one of the league’s best at third), but unfortunately not exactly the greatest runner. A signing of Machado would come with some controversy after his comments about hustling “not being [his] cup of tea.” Some people don’t want him on the team simply because of that, I say that’s outrageous. It is not often that any team gets the chance to sign a player that’s this young and this good. Is he the top priority? No. Should they sign him at the right price? Absolutely. That’s my take. Game changing talent. The Yankees will surely talk to him and his representatives, and we’ll see what happens from there.
As for his potential suitors, many would consider the Phillies to be the favorite, with the Yankees and White Sox also heavily intrigued. The Braves and Cubs are two other teams that have been linked to Machado in some capacity. Some experts have even linked teams such as the Mets or Angels as dark-horse candidates that could go after the all star infielder.
It’ll be interesting to see where he goes for sure, but the contract he receives could be even more interesting.
Thoughts on Machado? 👇
Can you still see Manny Machado coming to the Bronx? Lots of different opinions on a Machado to the Yanks signing are out there right now. Michael Kay, for one, believes the Yankees are “IN, in a big way, on Manny Machado.” Machado would make sense for us, especially considering Didi’s injury, but Machado’s attitude is viewed as an issue by Steinbrenner.

There has been some news coming in the past few days which I have not covered yet. The main synopsis of it is as follows:
-Justin Bour placed on waivers, meaning he most likely won't be back for next season.
-Aaron Nola placed 3rd in the Cy Young vote.
-Hoskins hits some dingers in Japan.
The main story I want to cover today though is the recent news of how the Phillies are primed and ready to spend big this offseason. It was of no surprise that we're at the top of the list as potential suitors and Bryce Harper and/or Manny Machado, and John Middleton recently ensured that we'll do what it takes. He told Bob NightenGale of USAToday the following, "We're going into this expecting to spend money. And maybe even be a little bit stupid about it too?". Middleton's saying here that we're going to do what it takes to get the job done. The agents of Machado and Harper will want insane money and oc there are limits but at a point, you have to value your potential 2019 roster and future if you fail to land a generational talent like them. I'm going to be very surprised if we don't land one or the other.
In other stuff, expect a podcast coming out in the next few days. It's going to either be about feelings regarding the current rotation or other targets beside Harper and Machado.
CREDS to @marlinsnetwork with the edit. Hit him with the follow because he really does a great job. Besides that, The Marlins would be willing to trade JT Realmuto to the Dodgers but they want Cody Bellinger and either Yasiel Puig or Alex Verdugo. In my mind, there’s no way this happens. #mannymachado#koltenwong#baseball#mlb#news#mlbnews#freeagent
I thought this picture would show how I feel about the orioles but idk. I think the orioles need to play the waiting game. They need to cut as much payroll as possible while rebuilding their staff. I don’t think they should go after any free agents as in it would be a waste. They need to figure out something to do with Chris Davis.
