From multiple Step failures to LICENSED family medicine physician, Dr. Mallory Whitley (@dr.mallorywhitley) journey into medicine demonstrates a dream delayed IS NOT a dream denied! Behind the smile in the pictures, there was a lot of praying, crying, and self doubt. Her journey was filled with many peaks and valleys where she found herself thriving on her clinical rotations to only have her doctor dreams threatened with several board failures. Not only did she begin to doubt herself, but others who once supported her white coat dreams began to tell her to seek alternative career paths such as research or apprenticeship. Dr. Whitley could have easily taken their advice and gave up, but she didn’t! She decided not to let her failures be the end of her story, but allowed it to be a transformation point to turn her setback into a comeback. Through hard work, transparency, support of loved ones, and FAITH Dr. Whitley, is a fully licensed family medicine physician currently completing her 2nd year of residency in Jacksonville, Florida. Use Dr. Whitley story to remind yourself IT IS POSSIBLE! Do NOT believe the naysayers! Find a mentor, use your resources, self reflect and push FORWARD!!!!!!

👩🏾✈️Happy Veteran's Day to all of the Soldiers that have gone before us and those that are still with us. I am highlighting this story from a young woman who shared her mother's story as a Vet during a rough yet ugly time period in history. We must never forget the WOMEN who faught just like men did to ensure our freedom rights today. Thanks @stcconsultingllc for sharing your mother's history with us!!🙌🏽👩🏾✈️ .
#RepostSave @stcconsultingllc with @repostsaveapp ・・・ At age 19, Second Lieutenant Juanita Graham Washington left her small hometown in NC to pursue her dreams of becoming a Nurse. She spent one year at NCA&T and transferred to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Meharry was the first medical school in the South to educate African American doctors, dentists, and nurses. She graduated, passed her Nursing boards on the first try and became a Registered Nurse. In 1948, Mom enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corps. She traveled to San Antonio, TX to complete her basic training class which included 100 women, only 4 of whom were African American!
Mom is holding a picture of her graduating class where I've highlighted her (the arrow) and her classmates. They were constantly referred to as "you four" and were rarely addressed by their name or officer's rank of Second Lieutenant. She is my "she-ro" and I honor her on this Veteran's Day as a trailblazer and patriot! #VeteransDay#Armystrong#NCAT#Meharry#ArmyNurse#trailblazer#SSTCCLLC#DrKWDRB
