Managed to plate this up for my client @khoraimei as she was busy playing host to her wonderful guests. Let's break the items down clockwise from the top: Ayam Pongteh (braised chicken in taucu and soy sauce), Nasi Kerabu with fish floss and kuah lemak budu (turmeric and coconut sauce), thinly sliced herbs (ulam), Daging Dendeng gula melaka (twice cooked beef jerky), Acar Nyonya (spiced pickles), Mee Siam, salted duck egg. A lavour of love! 👨🏻🍳😋💖
Spent some time shooting with the new Canon EOS-R combo with the new 24-105 f4 L lens last night thanks to @canonaustralia and @michaelscamera Camera feels good in the hand, about the same weight as my 6Dmk2 and 24-105 combo. The camera is a bit narrower with the grip more angular than the 6D. My fingers were close to the lens barrel but still fitted ok. The back button focus button is to the right of where your finger memory wants to find it though so needed a conscious thought to reach it. Battery life will be an issue as basically you are shooting in live view mode all the time. You can swing the vari angle screen closed to save battery and only use the evf but then you miss out on the coolest feature. Looking through the evf you can swipe your left hand over the rear touch screen LCD to move the focus point anywhere you want. Fantastic, no fumbling for buttons and joysticks to move them or locking and decomposing. Took about 270 shoots with 27% battery life left. I’m spoilt with the 6Dmk2 as the battery life in that is unreal even with gps on all the time.
Best feature on the new camera is the control ring on the end of the new lenses and also on one of the adaptors for your old EF and EFS lenses. You can program functions to the control ring like speed, ISO, aperture etc. I programmed exposure compensation and with a quick twist you can adjust over or under exposure compensation - brilliant. Auto focus was lightning fast even in low light shooting at ISO 12800. EVF blackout when taking photos even in burst mode was virtually nil but did become noticeable when shooting in very low light. All in all I think this is a winner as a first release full frame mirrorless for Canon and undoubtably with the release of a more pro body to follow will see more current DSLR owners upgrading. #canon#canoneosr#canonaustralia#michaelscamera#camerareview#firstlook#gearaquisitionsyndrome#mirrorlesscamera#rethinkmirrorless#melbourne#melbourneiloveyou#camera#photography#photographerslife#photographer#canoncollective#streetstyle#streetphotography#flindersstreetstation#bourkestreet#visitmelbourne#melbourne_insta#melbournetodo#canonexperiencecenter
