A report came out this morning stating that the San Diego Padres “remain interested” in RHP Noah Syndergaard... to expand on that, here’s the actual trade proposal by the Padres that I heard they’re offering the Mets for Syndergaard. Remember, it’s a RUMOR, meaning it may not necessarily be true. That being said, let’s dissect this trade proposal.
To be honest, this is a very fair deal for both teams. The Padres are getting a controllable, young Cy Young potential starting pitcher, without giving up any of their Top 3 prospects, including Fernando Tatis Jr. & Francisco Mejia.
On the contrary though, it’s also a fair deal for the Mets because not only are they getting 3 Top 6 prospects out of arguably the best farm system in baseball, they’re also getting a young slugging catcher in Austin Hedges AND a solid reliever in Jose Castillo.
Hypothetically speaking, if the deal were to go through, it wouldn’t necessarily be a “rebuilding” move. Their rotation would still contain Jacob deGrom, Zack Wheeler, Steven Matz, with top prospects like David Peterson, Justin Dunn, Anthony Kay, Adrian Morejon, and Chris Paddack on the rise.
Castillo, just 22, would be a huge boost to the bullpen, and could be a huge asset for years to come, too. And Hedges, 26, is averaging 21 HRs and 61 RBIs a year in the majors so far. If he could improve his batting average and OBP, he could easily be one of the best catchers in baseball — not to mention his “cannon” for an arm behind the dish.
And lastly, with Urias, Amed Rosario, Jeff McNeil, Peter Alonso, and Andres Gimenez, the Mets could have such a promising infield for the future, they could use some of the extra guys as trade bait to push them over the top in the near future.
Now, I’m not saying I necessarily want the Mets to trade Thor, or expect it to happen. However, I know when Mets fans hear Syndergaard’s name being thrown around in trade rumors, they automatically deny practically anything that could be offered.
I simply wanted to show you guys the other side to the deal, how dealing Syndergaard could in fact help the Mets...
What do you guys think? 👀

This really isn’t a big thing just a depth singing, will be in Spring Training and will probably be released after it, just the same old thing all teams do. What I will say is he’s had a decent stat line in the bigs so I can’t really say, maybe (AAA) to start the season.
Congratulations to Jacob deGrom on winning the 2018 NL Cy Young Award! Here’s a preview of the bobblehead that the @mets will be releasing next season. You know NYSX will be in the building for this one!
