We would like to introduce our new #floatambassador @Thegirlonabike
Things took a life changing turn for Vanessa on the 25th of March 2014 when she was hit by a red light jumping car while cycling home. In a moment she life changed. At the time, she had no idea of the full extent of the injuries, however today, years since the accident her body has been through a lot; 5 operations with over 10 months off work, full reconstruction of her right shoulder [now partly bionic], multiple complex hip surgeries and years of rest, countless steroid injections, hydrotherapy, osteopath, acupuncture, months and months of physio therapy. Despite the medical industries best attempts to get Vanessa back to a pain free state, Vanessa still faces niggling issues as a result of the accident, and as an incredibly active athlete beforehand and has been fighting to get her active life style back.
The accident lead her to motorcycles to avoid the traffic, and they quickly turned into new hobbies with a Harley-Davidson and most recently KTM enduro riding. She’s always on the hunt for adventures as you’ll see on her Instagram account, @Thegirlonabike and also looking at ways to help her process the physical and mental implications of the accident. This is where she discovered the wonders of floating.
